After a busy shift at work, I dragged my butt home to find the wife had planned us spending the day together hitting garage sales. Great. A day looking a a bunch of stuff I really don't need,or want for that matter. Oh well, I climbed in the truck and away we went.
After several stops, I spotted a sign for one at a mini-storage place. They were sellin off all the stuff in the units that hadn't paid thier rent in months. These can be good I thought.
I looked over a lot of junk that I couldn't believe people would pay money to store, until I spotted a white canvas bag in the corner of one unit. I peeked inside, to find a couple of crisp clean canvas something ir anothers in it, looked like a rainfly or awning or something. Imade an offer, and it was mine. I was thinking I could use the canvas for a rainfly for deer camp or at shoots.
AS I was carrying it to the truck, I spotted a big set of iron campfire cooking gear- the grates, pot hangers etc. I've been looking for some for taking to MBH Rendezvous or the GLLI. There were so many parts and pieces, I still havent figured out how to use them all.
The wife then came around the corner with two blanket sized pieces of brown wool, perfect for making me a longhunter pullover.
I got home and took the canvas out of the bag, and was surprised to find it was a wedge tent, brand spankin new. Overall, I think the day turned out good, and I got all this stuff dirt cheap.

This is part ofthe other set, there are some other parts I have no idea how to set up, but there is enough stuff to have 4 campfires going cooking food. I already have a good collection of pots, pans and ovens to go with this stuff.

Great score to say the least!!! That tent and the other supplies look very nice right there in the back yard!! Congrats!

Like I mentioned, there are parts I have no idea how to set up, does anyone have knowlege of any websites where I can look at some pics to get some ideas, or could someone post some pics of thier gear? There are 3 pieces of flat stock with holes drilled in them I'm not sure about, along with some other brackets that I think go for the rotisserie, but I can't figure them out.
As for the tent, I have to make some poles and a ridge pole, along with poles for the canopy.

That looks like the stuff Raccoon Forge makes.I have their phone number but no website info. Good luck, great find.

Dang...that's boring stuff. :(
I was sure you were going to uncover a bag full of old Grumleys and Kodiaks that even Wade Phillips had never seen or even heard of. :bigsmyl:
Otherwise, nice find!

Nice! It looks like you scored some cool reenacting stuff, probably civil war but maybe french and indian or even revolutionary.

Great find! I scored once on a 10x12 Canvas wall tent when I first moved to Alaska in 95. Found a card at a local grocery store that said 8x10 wall tent "$75.00". When I arrived at the lady's home that had it. She said her husband had passed in a hunting accident and she was selling off his stuff. I pais her the $75 and when I opened it, it was a 10X12! Not a bad find.

I think what I may do is make up a set of poles for the tent, and sell it and use any proceeds towards the tent I really want. I don't really see this one getting a lot of use, but couldn't pass up grabbing it at the time. I knew the canvas alone was worth far more than my investment.
I used the ironware last night and made a great dinner over the campfire.I love the stuff! I might be in trouble the next shoto I go to, I might spend more time around the fire cooking instead of shooting my longbows.
