I'm shooting an Easton 2018 XX75 and recently purchased some Zwickey Black Diamond glue-on two-blade heads for them.
I bought the following adapters (http://www.3riversarchery.com/product.asp?i=4196X)
They seem to fit snug to the broadhead but only up to the base. The broadhead does not completely cover up the adapter.
Is this incorrect? If so, which adapters do I need?
-
I assume you got the standard 5 degree taper Zwickeys for 11/32 shafts. If so, Those are the correct adapters. However, for some reason it sounds like the adapters may be a tad long. Try grinding a small amount off the tip of the adapter or use an old file and see if that does the trick. If not, consider trying the steel adapters as they are a bit shorter.

Nope...I bought the 5/16" Zwickeys. The Black Diamond is the smaller version of the 11/32 Eskimo.
I also made sure I bought the 5/16" adapters.
I do not think that they are too long - it seems that the base is too fat. I'll try to get a photo of how they look.
The adapter is flush with my 5/16" shaft, it has to be the right adapter UNLESS they make another diameter adapter that is designed SPECIFICALLY for the 5/16" broadhead?
-
If your using the adapters I'm thinking of, the fat "ring" at the base of the adapter should be almost entirely exposed. That is the correct fit.
All of the smaller "glue rings" should be out of sight however.
-
Yeah, the adapters are too long for the 5/16" Zwickeys. The are 5/16" in diameter but too long.
Try the steel b/h adapters. They are heavier but also shorter.
-
What Slowbow said.....the Zwickeys do not cover up the entire base of the adaptor....just like a lot of other bheads don't either.
-
Do the steel ones come smaller than 11/32?
I'm not showing too much...just the last two heavier rings. I'll try to post a pic tonight.

Here is an Ace and a Zwickey....both leave the adapters exposed about the same....sorry its harder to tell on the Ace as the blood is covering the insert lip a bit...but you can definately see where the insert stops and the adaptor begins on both.

And here's a Wensel Woodsman showing where they stop on the adaptor base....

Thanks!
I'm showing more than that. Another ring. The grooves are deep like the ones in the steel adapters.
I have 2 rings showing - but the adapter goes all the way to the tip and seems to be a great fit.
-
OK..something is wrong if you have two 'glue rings' showing...you must have the larger ones.
I have a bag of the smaller ones that I found buried in a box a while back...they were sent to me by mistake, and I've been moving them out of my way for 3 weeks now.....email me you address and I'll send them to ya.

Thanks Terry, I sent you my address to your email.
I actually got them to work tonight but I would rather use the actual adapter. I shaved them with a dremmel as evenly as possible and they fit nice and snug. I fixed three of them up like that and they seem to be okay pending a test.
Again, I'd rather use the right adapter as I will be making more.
