I appologize about the darkness of the photos, but this bear came in just left of where the camera was placed... How big do you think he is?

Even lightening the photo it's hard to see it, and there isn't much to use for a measure in the photo. I can't even give an intelligent guess.
Not very.

It looks like it has a big rub on its rear.

Thanks for lightning up the pictures
How big is that tree its standing beside? if thats a two to three foot shrub I would guess 180-200lbs. But thats just a guess.
Allan
Big enough to bite !! :scared:
Ears are high on the head, legs look long, no big paunch. He's not very big, but if he makes you happy, that's all that counts.
I'm with Vermonster. The legs and ears are the easiest way to tell.
boy you guys must have way better eyes than me
Bears are extremely hard to judge as it is, and this pic makes a good guess just that....a guess.....
My guess is 120#
i.m guessing 200 tops looking at the ground around it and the trees.educated guess is all.
I would say that is likely a sow. I would go with those that say she is in the 120 to 100 lbs range.
Just big enough to chase you back up the tree, Rick.
:D :D
Bears are the most difficult animals to judge if you don't have a reference of some kind. Lots of experienced bear hunters have killed many "big" bears only to find ground shrinkage is a real thing. In Maine, where it is legal to bait we usually judge size based on the bait barrel. I once had a large bear walk behind a bait barrell and disappear into the swamp. About twenty minutes later a bear approached the bait on the trail i came in on. I tought it was the same big bear just circling around. I shot him while he was in the brush with a clear shot to the chest at about 10 yards. When we found him he was rather smallish and i vowed never to take a bear again unless I had some objective way of determining its size, Having said that, when you see a really big one you will know it. If you have to guess how big one is chances are it is about half the size you think it is. Been there, done that!!!
I have no idea........bd
