I wanted to thank Yolla Bolly and everyone who gave me advice bareshafting for the first time.
When I started I was trying to take what I thought was the easy way out. I took a shaft and started shooting it. It was stiff so I started trimming it. Had 3/4 of an inch cut off. I had it moving toward the left. Couldn't figure out what to do next. So I posted a few questions and realized I had to start over and do it the right way.
Fortunatly I stopped there. That was an arrow I had already wraped. So even though this probably wasn't right, I started bareshafting with 6 arrows 3/4" shorter than full length. The fletched ones were flying pretty good. A little eratic. I had a new string I had ordered from Kota so I decided to start over on the bow. I put the new string on, shot it in, and dressed it with Bow Hush.
The shafts were low right and the fletched ones were pretty much right on. Just a little low left. I adjusted my nock point a little down. The nocks of the shafts going in at an angle were hitting the nocks of the fletched ones. So much so that I snapped a nock off of a fletched arrow already in the target. I was shooting these with my bow straight. I normally shoot with a slight cant. I did that and there it was right on.
If I may ask a few more ques. Specs are as follows:
Kota Killum 60" 50#@28"
Grizzlystiks 32" long with 150 grains up front.
655 grain total arrow weight
3 5" right helical
I did all of this with my new smallfry quiver on, but no arrows in it yet. I'm getting 6" of penetration at 20yards in the yellow target in the picture. I ran some through my chrono and am right at 140 fps.
I will post pics. Does all of this sound ok? I geuss with the penetration my speed is all right? A ST Epic 500 only runs around 160 fps out of this bow. The back of my arows seem to kick quite a bit to the left when leaving the bow. They seem to straighten out almost all the way. Maybe the nock is a hair to the left in the target. I don't know how to correct this. When it comes to the differential spine after I get everything else done then I check this before I fletch any more. Right? I've read a lot of past post on this and 4" sticking out of the bow is ok? Seems long to me. I went with 150 grains out front because I want to use WW's hopefully. Should I expect any great change in flight when I shoot broadheads? Are you supposed to bareshaft with the bow straight when you don't normally shoot that way? Do my silencers look alright? To big? My bow is very quiet. Does this all seem ok?
These pictures are my first few rounds the day after I felt good about it.
The straw is 15 yards away where I started. The yellow target is 18.

Thanks again. Garlin
Have to resize pictures. That's better.
Forgot the bow.

I don't see any bareshaft arrows to compare locations. Nice group at 15 yards. Have you compared flight with field point arrows (fletched) and fletched arrows with broadheads?
I didn't think about taking any pics of the bare shafts. I'll try to get a chance to do that. I haven't shot it with broadheads yet. I'm assumong I'll want to shoot the ones I want to hunt with. I plan on buying some 150 grain screw on WW's this week. Maybre you could take a stab at some of my other ques. Thanks, Garlin.
My understanding on the bareshafting is shoot the fletched and bare shaft at he same time to compare the flight and angles.
I did that. This is the final results of my fletched arrows. It had been awhile since I was able to shoot regularly. My 20 yard groups are getting tighter.
I think I would make sure and have the arrows in the quiver when I tune. The best way to know about a broadhead is to shoot a couple and see what it does. The rest of the questions ( silencers and amount of arrow sticking out) is just a personal opinion and has no right or wrong answer. You are a good shot but you may have a little more work to do with tuning or form because you want to eliminate your left and right problem. I just don't know if you are getting a false stiff or if your arrows really are a little stiff. I personaly would stick on a few broadheads and reduce the thickness of my side plate if it still is impacting left. Correct me if I am wrong boys I only been doing this about a year and a half. I am going off your shots in the yellow bag and assuming they were shot from further away cuzz that is when stuff is amplified and shows up. very good groups prolly not a form problem.
glad I don't have to compete with you.
My groups have gotten better over the last 2 days, and not favoring the left. Mostly my left shooting starts after I've been shooting for awhile. I don't notice it so much at first then I can tell I'm starting to grip the bow instead of hold it. Does anyone else seem to pull one way when they have shot alot.
