We had no trouble finding game today. The antler growth is VERY good this year. These bulls were with a small group of cows, but the ladies moved into the tress and I only got pic's of the bulls....

I was just out in Colorado last week visiting family. I got to hike a bit in the mountains. You live in some of the most beautiful country I have ever seen. You took some great photos, saw some beautiful game, and spent time with your family all at the same time. What could possibly be better than that!
Joe

I'm going to have to second the thought, "antler growth is very good this year". Its phenomenal! Length and is crazy already, bucks and bulls. Going to be fun to see those racks weaving throught the trees in a few weeks!

What an awesome morning! It has been a good season so far. I have seen some great bucks and bulls, but haven't been able to close the deal......until this morning.
First, I would like to say that I am an Elkaholic. I have a problem, but I like it! I left the house this a.m. looking for a couple of big Mulie bucks that I knew where hittting a small pond. Some how I ended up on high point looking over some Elk country and sending off a locator bugle.
30 min. later I was 20 yards from this bull. He was with another bull that I never saw, just heard him bugle. This was the first calling I had heard so far this season. The bugled at me alot!
I shot him with a Cascade Golden Hawk Mag, lodgepole arrows and MA-3 broadheads.
You did the work and it paid off. That is a beautiful elk.
Jeff
that's a great bull
now go get that buck you've been seein'...

Good lord Jason, Great Bull!!!!! Congratulations to you Sir!!!
Was he on Public or Draw area?
Congrat  on a fine elk.
Thanks for sharing pics of your family outing. It doesn't get any better than that.
Thanks guy's. O&U he was in an OTC, actually a very heavily hunted area. I grew up hunting the unit though so I know it pretty well and that helps a bunch.
I alomost forgot, my "secret" weapon. I didn't like the sound chamber on the grunt tube I bought. So I cut it off and played around with some other "parts". ended up with a Starbucks "venti" coffee cup on the end of the tube! Who knew Elk were attracted to coffee! :coffee:
Awesome...congrats!!!! Very,very cool :notworthy:
Can you tell us about the shot,is that entry or exit in front of the shoulder in the pic? As a three blade guy myself, I'm always interested to hear about this.
Some would say(not me) you shouldn't use that bh for elk....

Great shot Jason! Not wanting to start stuff as I know some are not real hip on those shots, but I shot a bull a few yrs back at about 12 yds straight on. Arrow went in to the feathers, centered the heart and lungs. He dropped inside of 35 yds.
Good for you again Jason!!! I see a new Avatar in your future.
Jake
I figured I might get some grief for taking that shot, but how do you argue with results like a dead Elk inside of 60 yards from the shot? In reality ANY shot taken can have it's down falls if you make a mistake. TOO high or LOW or a little left or right, on any shot angle can lead to triumph or tragedy, for a bowhunter.
Elksoung if you have enough horsepower and enough arrow weight, why not take this shot?, now if your shooting 35-45lb's that's another story.
Nice job my friend
That is one awesome bull, your hard work has been rewarded, congratulations and thanks for sharing.
Awesome bull Jason thanks for taking us along. You made it work thats for sure.
Can i come live with you. :bigsmyl:
Way to go man, where you at in the state? Thing have been hot and cold down by me. But still plenty of animals!
Joe you could come visit, but will the kids and dogs I have a full house! :biglaugh:
Adam -West central part of the state. These bulls were just in the right mood at the right time. I had not heard any bugle until I got into them. Heard my first bugle since I killed the bull this a.m. Good luck!
