I was going to plan this year's deer hunt the 3rd week of Oct, but then I saw that Mike put together the squirrel hunt just the week or two prior.
The deer hunt would be out on the same property. I have 3 other dates in mind that would work for me, but I would like some input first.
1. Oct 22nd-25th(3 weeks after Mike's hunt)
2. Nov 5th-8th(beginning-prerut)
3. Nov 12th-15th(early rut and before youth shotgun)
I can get shirts together and we can do some sort of fun shoot maybe?
Go ahead and vote for 1, 2, or 3.
I'll post the rusults and start planning!

Could you put up a link to your DNR to find liscence prices.
I will keep this poll open for the next week until Saturday the 25th.
Hopefully this link will get you out of state guys started on license info.
http://www.ohiodnr.com/wildlife/dow/regulations/hunting_deer.aspx#permits
It isn't expensive for out of state hunters to buy tags here. I believe the license will be $125 non-resident plus a $20 deer permit. That is one reason why so many people come from out of state.

Charlie i'll be joining you again if its the 5th-8th. was wondering if you were going to do this again. hope to see you there
Jim
Count me in for sure.
Jim and Matt,
We'll see you there!
Matt,
I have your quiver boxed up and will send it out Monday.
-Charlie
Put Dylan and me down for a big probably again. :-D
My vote is for. Nov 5th-8th(beginning-prerut)No mater the date I'm In! :campfire:
Jim you and dylan have to make it for atleast the weekend.
We can be there for some or all of either of the two November dates (though I imagine the earlier one will be warmer and less likely to turn us into sleeping bag encrusted freezee pops) but not the October one - for what it's worth.
I'll be nighttime oncall that week in October. This will make me sleepy, grumpy and several other, less popular dwarfs.
It is leaning toward Nov 5-8th. This poll will stay open until next Saturday.
Jim,
Don't want you to turn into any of the dwarfs. I hope it turns out good for you!

5th thru 8th? Count me in. Who's cookin?
This has been and will be a somewhat primitive hunt. No running water or electricity. That's kind of funny since it is on American Electric Power land.
They DO HAVE out houses and the camping area is mowed with trash cans.
We have cooked over an open fire the last two years and everyone brought their own food/cookiing utensils.
For this hunt, you will need to bring everything you will need to be without the comforts of home for a 3-4 day hunt.
I'm hoping to convince some of the guys to lug along their 3D targets for fun/shooting/practice. I will bring my 3d deer target and a few layered targets as well.
I think with the knowledge we have gained over the last two years, some deer will make it into camp!
I am also checking with a guy I know about shirts.

Volunteering for what?
-Charlie
Tell you what, If I can put a deer on the ground before that date, I'll provide a ton deer buger for everyone!
For Cooking? Mike? You boys eat too much... I wouldn't even get out of camp!
Deer Buger? That is snot what I think it is! is it?
LOL! Burger, I'll even cook in celebration....well ...at least once!
I have a bunch of "buger" from my deer i shot last year i can bring and 2 whole front legs.
Ummmm..... Sure....bring some of that.... :saywhat:
YEAH!!!! I should be there. Wouldnt miss it. Although I'm not hunting around camp this year
Don,
I keep telling ya' I have a spot for you! I'm going down ASAP to build some brush blinds this year.
There is a barely accessible utility road waaaaaay in the back that is covered with clover. Your jeep could get in there and it is definitely a good spot. No other greenery around for a half mile in November! The deer hit it hard, but it is only an evening hunting area.
Anyway, I'm going to see if Matt and anyone else is up for a trip out that way to help put in some ground blinds.
Also, You know that strip of timber that runs along road 13 from the dam near camp all along the road? We have seen deer crossing the road many times right there. I think I might check that out and put a blind in there as well.
Lots of work to do if anyone wants to volunteer to help set up some brush blinds.
Anyone interested could go out for the weekend to make blinds and fish the ponds too.

Count me in if it is the 5th to the 8th. I had a good time last year and would like to spend some more time on the back side of the tree farm area.
Charlie, give me a push when you think your going down. The baby and I love to camp and Miranda is a fishing fool this year. We could make it a weekend and help out. Aaron hope you make it again, had a great time last year talking smack at the fire.
:biglaugh:
Aaron,
Great to hear from you. It looks like it will be from the 5th -8th. The poll is HEAVILY leaning that way.
Don,
Matt an I are looking at going out Aug 14-16 to set up blinds. Let me know if you want to come. We will camp at the same area we usually do.
-Charlie
And the winner is.....Nov 5th -8th! Put in on the calendars. I will be down setting up late morning/early afternoon on Thursday Nov 5th.
More details to come, watch for the official 2009 thread! I will have all the permit info and shirt design in a week or two.
Also, anyone that wants to come help set up brush blinds, let me know. We are settiing them up, fishing and doing a little scouting August 14th-16th. :campfire:
We will be camping at camp K for all events.
-Charlie
