what should the brace height be on a Bear Black Bear 60" recurve? not sure if it matters the poundage is 45#. reason i ask is i just bought a new 56" string for it and it just doesn't look right strung, like the string is too long or something. also, when i shoot it the string hits my wrist, right handed shooter, this doesn't happen ever with my 58" Wing bow. thanks guys
I dont know it for a fact but most recurve bows have brace heights at 7 to 7 1/2 inches if you are not close to that range you might have the wrong size string. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will show up and give the exact info you need.
A 56" string is about right! Did you measure it the string or make it? Flemish or endless? If it measured 56" and is a flemish, was it pre-stretched, or maybe it was 56" new and, you put it on and it stretched! If so just twist it up to acheive your desired brace or best shooting height. 7 1/2" is a good start, measured from the throat of the grip. Good shoot,and ask if you need any more help. Steve

Aaron, rookie maybe, but not lowly! Welcome to a great family of archery! You'll get alot of help here. The throat is the deepest part of the grip in the curve or radius area. You can nock an arrow and measure from the sting to about center on the arrow shelf, which will be pretty close. I wish i could post a pic. look in the how to sec. for bow set-up ther should be some pics there! Steve
