Went out to get a feel for my elk area, a place that I haven't hunted before. The country is pretty nice... (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v47/ceastes/IMG_0371.jpg)
Late rains have made our streams still unfishable, but sure is making for some good grub for the wildlife. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v47/ceastes/IMG_0392.jpg)
Along with the rains come quite a good flower show in the higher elevations right now. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v47/ceastes/IMG_0384.jpg)
Took an evening hike, and about 5 minutes after I took this picture, I had a nice black bear run down a hill in my direction until he figured me out, and then he hightailed it back up the hill. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v47/ceastes/IMG_0409.jpg)I found some really elky looking country, and although I didn't see any elk, I came home feeling pretty good about the area I will hunt this year.
Beautiful country, Pat
Hope you're back sharin' stories in a couple of months
:campfire:
Nice pictures are you going scouting again or will you be back to hunt only
Beautiful country, and great job capturing it in pictures! Makes me miss the mountains, but it won't be long now........
Thanks for that, now I need to go and look my area over.
That is how I imagine heaven will look.
Gerardo,
I will be making more trips as September approaches. It is a great excuse to be in the mountains, and maybe the fishing will improve, as well.
Thats pretty awesome pat. I have been in that country some and it truly is amazing. I heard last weekend that you used to be a big part of B.O.W.
Awesome pictures! Thanks and good luck with those Elk. Looking forward to the pics from your next trip to the Mountains scouting!
Thanks for sharing Pat!! I can wait to be in the Buffalo area in 9 weeks!! I truley hope we can help you pack out an elk!!
Tim,
I hope you guys are all rested up from dragging antelope and you can help me pack an elk. Elk definitely smell better than antelope!
WOW! Can't wait to see something even close to that.
I'd better buy some more memory cards for my camera.
Really good looking country, should be even better when the aspens start turning golden and the bulls are bugling. Can't wait to see photos from your hunt.
Thanks for sharing the pics, though they leave this flatlander feeling a bit winded and light-headed. I can't wait for the real thing in September! Is it too early to start packing my gear? I mean, September is just around the corner...
Pretty good-looking elk country, Pat!
Around here the mosquitoes and high grass are keeping me from seeing the elk- but about 3-4 pm some venture to the river to drink. I only need to shoot one...
Things will change as it gets hotter and drier out. I don't think there will be any skinny elk; the dang rain keeps a fallin here.
Looks like you are destined to have a really nice hunt, Pat. That looks like elk country for sure!
Don't worry, the mosquitos will be outdone by the deer and horse flies soon.
nice lookin elk woods...reminds me of the eaglecaps wilderness....i'll be makin one more trip there god willin.wish the tradganger elk hunt could be up there as it is truly a creation to behold.wyoming is some of the most incredible country there is.
Awesome Pictures.
I love it out there.
