Ok so i am newer to making arrows and i was wondering how i find my spine and grain on the arrows that i have made... The arrows are poplar and either 29.5" or 30" and they have a 100 grain field tip on the end. But the question is how do i find this stuff out and how should it match up to the bow(s) that i am shooting.... :confused:
UC16, look at the end of your shafts to find the lines of the growth rings. When an arrow is nocked on the string and sitting on the arrow rest of the bow, and you are holding the bow as if to shoot it, those lines should be horizontal. It's hard to see the features on poplar, but you should be able to find those lines on the end.

I haven't been able to find out how to find the spine or the grain weight of the arrows though.
Is the spine just how close to horizontal the grain is to the rest or what?
Is there some way to convert grams to grains or something?
Spine is a measurement of the stiffness of the shaft and is measured on a spine meter. If you bought the shafts as arrow shafts, check with your supplier. :readit: If you are using dowels, you will need to find a spine meter to check them. Grams can be converted to grains, but I don't have the factor on hand. There are 28.4 grams per ounce and 437 grains per ounce. How's your math? :D
