After all the debate and research on which broadheads to use, I finally decided on Eclipse and just purchased the Eclipse Single Bevel Broadheads. I shoot carbon, Beman Classic MFX 400's, and need to install the adapters for the broadheads. So, I need a little help with this. I am curious how to be certain the broadhead is properly lined up and spinning true on the adapter? I also would like to know which glue works best for gluing the adapters?
Thanks for the help!
I'm a fan of the Dixon Broadhead Aligner, and prefer either Goat-Tuff or JB-Weld for attachment. Just clean them out real good, rough up the inside of the ferrel good, and all is well. Lots of different ways and products, others will give good advice too.
I just checked out the Dixon tool.
Pretty cool. Now how do you ensure the insert and adaptor are straight?
The insert (if the proper one for your shafts), will self align. There is another issue, its when you cut your shafts. They must be square. There is a device called an Arrow Squaring Device (ASD) that trims your cut to a true perpendicular (I don't have one, so its not an endorsement). The only "risk" is that if the cut is not square, you don't distribute the load of an impact square to the shaft, and increase the risk of breakage.
Like Dave said, keep away from any of the heat glue products. They are problematic with carbons.

When you say "heat glue" are you referring to what I would call "hot melt"?
Yep, any of the products that use heat to change the state (ferrel-tite, hot melt, etc.). Basically use 2 part epoxy of CA type glues.
I have the dixion broadhead aligner and it works great. I love goat tuff glue but it sets up before I can get the broadhead aligned. Ive been using 2 ton epoxy, works great. m2c

Ditto Dave. 2 part epoxy. Most of the alignment can be eye balled. Give it a spin on a glass top table and lay it aside till it dries.
Gents, Thank you! I kinda figured that the broadheads would align, but wasn't sure on the glue. Thank you Dave and BobW for your insight and advice. I cannot wait to get the heads in, glue them up and try them out!

Erik,
When you set up your broad heads, put them on the shafts and align your B'head and adapter on the shaft you will use it on. (Tightened into the shaft) Use care not to glue the adapter into the shaft, though.
This way, when your adhesive dries, you don't have to resort to using washers, paper spacers, etc to get the broadhead aligned to the position you prefer it at, on the shaft.
