Title: Quite impressed with Sitka Spruce
Post by: jonsimoneau on July 12, 2009, 10:28:00 PM
This past winter, I made up 2 dozen arrows of high quality sitka spruce.  I 2-wing footed them by hand with purple heart, crested, dipped, fletched, the whole deal.  I've been quite busy for awhile and have not had much time to play with them.  This weekend I was largely free, and shot them ALOT. I was impressed.  Durable, straight, etc.  I much prefer them over any of the cedar shafts I have ever bought.  Can't wait to run one though a whitetail!

Now that would make a good arrow. I like Sitka Spruce. I have never footed any but have been thinking of doing it. Gary

I haven't footed any either, but that is all that I shoot now. I think that they are tougher than cedar and Douglas Fir.

HAHA Welcome to the Family!  Never saw a need to foot them though.I Love Em!  Best arrows out of my WIDOWS Too. They're VERY Quiet , Solid, almost unbreakable. I get mine made up from Suzanne St. Charles. She makes some beauties!
