You see, that's what I'm saying. If Fred Bear had called this beauty a FBP61/42/28/-BR, it would not have the same effect. It's a Bear Polar. 1961, 42#@28", Bubinga Riser. Sweet and shoots great. All good bows should have a real name....not silly letters and numbers.

that's a good looker....apparently, the "hybrid" thing has been around for awhile... ;)
fatman....this is a full recurve, not a semi. Here is a better photo showing tips.

oops, sorry....weren't some of the earlier Polars a "semi"?
That's a beauty George! I have my FBK59/50/28/60-RSW ready for the FB 50th year anniversary hunt described in the collector forum. Should be fun!
That one would be a pleasure to tote around the woods Bjorn.
fatman, yes they were until 1961 when they became full working recurves.
Okay George!
So have you christened that Bear Polar with a *real* name?
You know - like - "Brown Beauty"?
:~)
Shoot straight, Shinken
A beauty...agree on the real name comment. Those old Bears are sweet shooters.
Very nice looking bow.
I have a 1964/65 bear polar, 45# @28", that I take out once in awhile. It has yellow glass with wood unknown. Nice shooting bow but a little to long, 66", for comfort in the woods. Its serial number is 11BG125. Anybody know what wood it has.
I have a bear polar that a good friend of mine gave to my grandson, all I got to say is I wished he would of gave it to me, they are a real pleasure to shoot. This one has a lime colored glass on it and nice wood. 45#@28 and 66" How many colors of glass did they use?
The yellow glass is actually white that has had the finish age over time. Bear used, black, white, green, gray and even orange. Some of the early 50's bows even had red glass.
Bear Heart, do you have a photo of that bow?
