Title: DIY Wild sika deer....

looking to do some sika deer hunting on the eastern shore Md this fall. I have a kayak,and canoe. Has anyone hunted assateague? or anywhere on the eastern shore. Can anyone shine some light on this.?

Hey there JLB, Assateague is tops for Sika. You can hunt the boat in part on the north end of the island or you can drive the 13 miles or so of beach ( with the proper permit, of course). There is also a walk in part on the north end, just not as far as the boat only part. The state side of the island also opens after the camp season is over and that is walk in also. There are a bunch of hunters from here that hunt it. On another note there are several public areas with the little swamp critters on them. The OSV permit last yr was 90 bucks for a 5am 'til midnight permit and, I think, about 115 bucks for an overnight permit. Pm me for any other info you might need or go to the island webpage.
