Title: Wood shaft spine gurus
Post by: reddogge on July 01, 2009, 09:17:00 PM
I need to buy some cedar shafts for a 26#@28" recurve bow.  Draw is 28" and point weight can be 70, 100, 125 gr field points.  Fletch is 4" shield.

Would spine be 25-30 or 30-35 and what weight point is best?  These are target arrows only.  I have one shot to get it right so no experimenting is possible.

For most recurves; bow weight +10#; 1" over 28 +5; 70gn tip-10#=30-35 for Dacron, add 5 for FF; keep the tips light for such low#. You can always play with the side plate if you are underspined.

30-35# should do it.  125 grain points will make for a heavy, slow arrow out of that set up.  I agree with Bjorn, keep the points light.
