I've been shooting 2114's out of my bow with good results. I'm using 125gr heads and arrow length is 29.5"..... can someone tell me total weight on for this combo?
Bow weight is 53@28" and I'm right at 28" draw
It was also recommended that I try 2018's cut to the same length with same 125 gr heads for a little heavier hitting combo. I think the total weight on this set up was about 530 gr, which gives me right at 10 gr/#. Any thoughts on this?
Not sure about the 2114's.
2018's plow through most anything and are tough to bend or break. I think they are 12.28 gpi. I have been using them for a little while but am switching to carbon for the fun of it. Playing with arrows is fun. :thumbsup:

the dynamic spine calculator lists this set up 2114 as 425gr with feathers and around 450 with vanes.
So I just did a search and discovered the Dynamice Spine Calculator (thanks mwmwmb).
I also got a total weight of 425 gr.
I'm curious about nock weight. The arrows come with nocks attached so do I still need to account for this like I would for feathers....or is this similar to front end loading, and I should only insert a numerical value if I'm actually adding extra weight to the back end of the arrow?
what does your average nock weigh anyways?
Super nocks, if using Camo Hunter arrows, weigh 13 grains.
And since I like to tinker, I've been playing around with this Spine Calculator.
Looks like 2114's should work just fine, but the 2016's look like a great match too. Obviously, I'd have to shoot them to find out.
The two main criteria I'm looking at are total weigth (8-10 gr/#) and FOC. What's a good FOC? I'm getting 12.5% and 13% with these setups.
Am I on the right track? I'm trying to figure all this stuff out, and this is the only place for direction. Thanks in advance.
Hey, TXAg I am trying to figure it out too. lol. I have only been shooting trad about six months and I am not sure if the arrow flight is form or arrows. lol. If i ever get groups tight enough :banghead: i might try bareshafting but until then i just shoot :archer: . hopefully I will work it out before Oct.
...just a weight check. I have a new to me scale. My 31" BOP 2114s with 125s weigh 482.5 grains. They have the super nocks and bushings.

TxAg, the 2114 has a fatter diameter with a thinner wall, the 2018 has a smaller diameter with a thicker wall.
If I was you, I'd add a 100 grains to the front and call it a day.( if you can get it to tune)
You can do it by brass insert, or steel broadhead adapter, or just a heaver broadhead.
The magic # for EFOC is 19% and higher.
Lets take two arrows the exact same weight, let's say 609 grains (because I have one), yet one arrow has a 300 grain broadhead (assuming we could get it to tune)the EFOC on this arrow would be around 24.58% ya!-babe!
Now the other arrow, the same weight, yet has a 125 grain broadhead, the EFOC would be around 11.86 not vary good for penetrating.
So, to keep it simple, the lightest arrow I can find with a stiff enough spine to handle the broadhead weight, you want most of the weight up front.
This becomes even more important with light tackle, and 53lb with a 425 grain arrow is light, 8.02 per lb.

I have been shooting 2018 out of my bow, about the same weight, though I draw a 1/2 inch shorter. I shoot them at 29.5" with 125 grain tips. I tried shortening one to 27.5" and had to go up to a 200 grain tip to bare shaft. I am going to try to fletch it and see how it flies with that much weight forward. I am sure it will fly fine, but drop like a tone past 20 yards.

You're right. I forgot to include nock weight the first time and front end insert the second time. I'm at about 460 gr with the 2114's and 13.5% FOC. That puts me about 8.7 gr/#. Good to know that my current set up is OK, but I'd still like to tinker.
I'm gona try the 2018's also, just for kicks.

I use a 2018 cut 29" BOP with a 125 gr BH and a 75 gr steel insert out of my 55# @ 28" draw Fox longbow. This gives me a 600gr arrow that is one hard hitting combo. I've shot them long enought that I have adjusted to the arch so I don't even think about it.
I load judo points with the 75 gr inserts for a practice head/stump shooter and they shot great also.

Short of adding a heavier broadhead, what's the best way to add weight up front?
I've seen brass rings (5 gr each) and various inserts (not sure what all weights they come in). Is there anything else I should be aware of?
