I drew the optional muley tag as well .... 37% chance of drawing and I got one.
Here is the buck that was 150 yards bedded every day with does in the treeline outside the place I was staying at :) and he's still alive according to the rumors :)

great muley, Brad...look at the neck on that boy!
Good luck on your upcoming hunt
I'm going to pretty please for the wife to allow me 2 trips to Kansas this fall ..... opening weekend in hopes of finding a bachelor group and velvet, and then second week of Nov if I still have a tag.
I'll post the hunts of course :)
Well I drew a whitetail tag also but used 4years worth of points and wasn't fortunate enough to draw the optional muley.I am certainly proud for Brad and others but have to question how someone with no points draws both tags.Crazy  I wont be sending Kansas preference point checks in the future.see ya in Kansas Brad.
You know a state is messed up in its leadership when the non-residents even complain about the seemingly unlimited tags and draw system !!
How much to get me on Leon's place? lets go opening week hill boy, I'll stay with you in Quinter maybe and we'll eat ribeyes at night and spot/stalk deer all day - velvet ones !
if ya'll are huntin out by quinter your not to far from me good luck this fall
Awsome Buck!!!! I can not wait to get on some Muleys. Good luck and Keep us posted.
Jake,I usually hang my hat in quinter for about 10 days.Brad hunts not far from there we will have to hook up and compare notes.
every nonres drew this year and there will be over 4000 left over tags as well.
on whitetail!!
Yea!after charging Me every year for preference points.Go figure. The least they could have done is give those that has been paying and applying for tags and points every year an advantage on the mule deer draw. What a deal!
hill boy KDFW hasn't won brownie points with residents or non-residents in several years IMO
I'm tickled on the muley tag, I've never taken a nice mule deer, I'm pretty excited about hunting this fall and will try to make KS twice if the wife is accomodating to that idea :)
two more muley's from the area I'll be hunting

Couldnt see that coming lol. KDWP finally succeded in totally whoring out the deer and turkey. Dont forget to add theres tags left in EVERY unit. This stroke of luck is totally unbelievable!?!
Atleast now your luck at getting a tag can be as good as all the TV stars was when the state was setting up the high demand TV helped them create.
Hold on to your hunting spots boys, there gonna start drying up even more.
rg176bnc I don't disagree ....... its bad when the KDFW has made both residents and non-residents both unhappy
Im not totally opposed to NR hunting, although our state will NEVER be what it once was before they started to allow it.
The KDWP have absolutly no clue how many deer or turkey are killed each year.
I know not one hunter who has been sent a harvest report or anything.
All I know is before it all got out of hand w/ NR tags and antlerless tags I could see between 3 and 6 bucks over 150 on public land each year.
Two years after the once good public hunting is now over run w/ hunters. Now you better have some good private land to do that well.
We dont have many acres of public land here for guys that have never been here and if you have 3 guys that can handle a rifle theres not 10 patches of trees in the whole state that you couldnt cover with a good drive.
I enjoyed your pics & stories from your hunt last year Brad and hope to see them again this year.
rg176bnc sad part is, most nonresidents agree with you I think
but KDFW isn't unlike any other G&F - I think they're all corrupt with the love of money :(
