Title: Pendleton pants?
Post by: OB on June 30, 2009, 10:33:00 PM
Can anyone vouch for the durability of some vintage American made plaid Pendleton pants?  I have 8 awesome shirts, and growing, but the weave of the pants doesn't seem to be as tight as I would like.  Any older gents out there that swear by them?

I have an old pair that are still holding together. They tend to attract burrs, but other than that I have no complaints.

Filson.

Not the tin pants, which are great, but their whip cord wools. No burrs, wear like iron, stops any wind. Very expensive but will last a lifetime if you don't throw them in the washer. One of my few clothing items that is worth spending so much on because they perform so well. Filson woolens make Pen stuff look like junk. (shirts excepted) Sorry, but they use better wool and weave it tighter in their jackets and pants than any other maker, period.

hey J- I agree about Filson, just ask my wife and our credit card!  I told her today that the whipchord pants are indeed the last pair of wool pants I should need; I found some Pendleton pants locally and bought them just because their old, plaid, and Portland local.  I am rough on pants during the elk season, so we'll see.

OB,
I kind of got turned off Pendleton last summer when we were in Oregon and went to their store, and found just about everything is now "hecho en mexico". Gawd, is nothing made here anymore??? Filson, so far is US made. Guess who will be getting my money when I make a purchase. The stuff that I have from Filson is the absolute best.

Bull
When you are a manly man you don't need pants, particularly those made south of the border. I don't need no steenking badges, either.

OB,
This question doesn't pertain to your post, but I need to ask where is Pickens, SC? My mom's maiden name is Pickens so I'm curious for that reason. I have a son who lives in Greer. Is that close? Thank you for any info you can supply.

Rick

Greer is about a 20min drive from Pickens.  It's in the NW portion of the upstate; 45 min South from NC, 45min East of Georgia.  Nice place, but damn yankees wouldn't approve   :D

OB,
Thank you and I do appreciate your humor! I'll ask my son to go to the cemetary in Pickens and look for some of our relatives so I can work on our geneology and fill in some more links. Thanks again
