Ok guys I want a heavier aluminum arrow, somewhere around 550-600 total weight. My bow is a Bear Montana #55 @29" I'm thinking either 2018 or 2020 Legacy's cut @30" I'm flexible on broadhead weights. What recommendation do you all have?
Those choices should get you close or right on with 125 to 145 grain points. The 2018 will be just under your target weight though. That Montana should be 55#@28" instead of 29", right?
A 30-31" 2117 with 175-200gr point may work for you.
A Bear Montana is not cut past center so I would pick a 2018 and with a 145 gr. point will give you right around 550 grs. depending on the length.I just made up some 2018's at 29" with 125 gr. point, wraps and 3-5" feathers and they weigh 530-532 grs. so you can hit 550 with a 2018.I would start full length with like a 145 gr. point and tune and trim from there.

Right, typo.
I shoot a 2018 cut 29' BOP out of my 55#@28 draw Fox long bow and I load the heads to get the weight up to 600 gr. I use a 125gr BH with a 75gr steel insert which gives me a 200gr head. There are some other heads on the market that weigh out at about 175 without a insert. You could use a standard alum. insert and get them to about 200gr also.
The 2018 is a little stiff for 55@28 but adding the head weight out of my not cut to center longbow shoots great and it give you a good FOC arrow that hits hard.
