Title: Alternative for Ducu????
Post by: Paul Mattson on June 30, 2009, 01:14:00 PM
Running very low on Ducu and cannot find it no more.  I have used it for years, I hate to see it go.  But anyway, what have you been using with Gasket Lacquer?

I fletch all my arrows with super glue. I kinda like the lock-tite gel. It's fast and not too drippy like the more liquid types.

Found it in a new packaging at lowe's or similar.. don't know if it is gone or just changing to a bottle. The hole in the top looked larger so might get messy but I think it is still out there. $3 instead of $1 though

Family Dollar stores, not Dollar General, have it for a buck.

Superglue will work with gasket lacquer, but you have to let it dry longer (at least 15 min) than when it's used on urethane finishes (5 min). I had trouble with my last batch popping the fletching off unexpectedly, but I think it was because I sprayed my cresting with a spray acrylic which wasn't compatible. I like to crest under the fletching. I eventually had to reglue all the fletching on that set.

Spent time at a local (kinda) shoot and the guy I went with told the story of kids huffin Duco so Wally World pulled it from the market. (Forgot to ask if they made it or owned duco?)

Story was one of the Dollar type name stores had some so he bought several 'cases' which are only 6 tubes.  Get em while you can seems in order.
