Doing a little window shopping at broadheads right now. Cabin fever I guess.
A couple of years ago I tried some Razorcap broadheads. I bought a couple of packs at different times. One thing that both packs had in common was the the blades on all them broke at the rear weld at some point. A few broke while shooting in targets and a few broke just tightening them up on the shaft. After that, I switch to something else.
Got a friend who had the same problem with them. These were all pre NAP.
My question is....Have this problem been addressed and fixed? Are we the only ones who have had this problem with them?
I really like the design and the accuracy of the BHs, but the fragile blades turned me off.

I had the same thing happen on the earlier heads i still use them today and have not had the problem i quite a while. I like the stainless steel and the ability to change head weight with the change of the furrel.
I think they would be worth another try.
Yup, I have had the same issue's with the NAP ones. I even emailed them numerous times and have NEVER heard back! They are killing machines but are a one hit wonder! I just can't see paying that much anymore for a broadhead that basically is a one shot deal! Plenty of other heads out there that will stand up to the abuse!

I've killed 8 whitails and 4 hogs and 2 racoons and a bear. I've not had one fail. I'm shooting from 47 to 61 lb bows with 175 and 200 grain razorcaps. thats over the last two years . I got some 125 and 150 gn inserts. they don't seem to be as heavy duty and the 175 or 200s. Don

Had one of mine break there at the same spot after I shot it through plywood quite a few times(testing penatration). Otherwise they did great.
I've been using them pretty much exclusively for several seasons. I have never had one fail. Don't know how many deer I've killed with them, but all fell in sight and most were still razor sharp unless they wound up in the ground. Two seasons ago I killed a 600 pound cow moose with on. It went right thru the big "knuckle" that covers the heart (took a big chunk out of it), chipped off a piece of rib, centered the heart, ripped open the lungs and hit the off side shoulder. That broadhead was as good as new when I retrieved it and still sharp enough to hunt with. The moose took three steps and went down. I have never had a RC fail. They are easy to get scary sharp, stay sharp and you can vary the weight by changing ferrules. I even shot one into my poured concrete foundation when shooting them inside. It stuck in the foundation, and the tip got a little dinged up. I fixed that with a file and use that head for practice shooting. I have also hit two bear square in the shoulder without harming the heads....or the bears.
I have such a hard time believing all of this. I am not kidding when I say they have all broke on me. They have broke shooting into 3d's, animals and one into a tree at 30 yards. Not just the weilds but the ferruls as well. Maybe they were just selling the bum batches to us in MN. I am not talking about an occasional break, I mean I have broke over a dozen of em. They do one heck of job on an animal but so do other heads! What are you guys shooting for weight? I am shooting 60-75lbs.

Maybe I can shed some light as I went through the same issues and contacted the original owner of the RC's over this a few year back.
The "pre" NAP heads had some hardening issues in a batch or two. This was explained to me by the owner at the time, Phil, can't remember his last name.
He sent me a new set of blade cartridges and they seemed fine. Just for kicks, I shot a couple into a steel frying pan to see if they'd fail and no problems.
That same year NAP bought the design and started producing them. I also bought some NAP blade cartridges and never had any problems with them. I killed a couple whitetails with them that season.
I ended up going back to Woodsman heads, just tried and true for me, never had to wonder about the welds failing.

I had the same problem as Robhood23 with them.
Robhood23, it wasn't just MN, we got some bad batches here in TX as well. LOL! I was shooting them out of 60-65# bows.
I'm not bashing the BH, as I really like the design. I just had problems with the blades breaking. I'm going to order a pack and see if the newer ones are stronger.
Boomerang, I'm patiently waiting for a 200 grain Woodsman Elite screw in. Don't forget about me. :)

I am shooting them from a 60# DAS bow, Beman 430 shafts. I use the 200 grain ferrules unless I have 100 grain inserts in the arrows, then I use the 100 or 125 grain ferrules. NAP also makes a nice looking 3 blader called the Hellrazor. I've seen them but can't see that they would be any better than the SS Snuffer or the Woodsmans. I got a good deal on 3 doz. of the RC's so I'll be shooting them for a while although I came across a dozen of the old Pearson Switchblades in my stash so I may use them this year for old time's sake, if I can get them shooting well.
