Four of us have got together and booked for May23-28th of 2010. We still have 2 openings to fill with a couple more trad hunters. We are hoping to fill the 6 slots as we don't want don't want HOC to fill the last 2 spots with Wheelie or rifle hunters.
If you read the June - July TBH there was a great article on a bear hunt with HOC.
We will also be fishing for Halibut when not actually hunting. For the fishing they supply everything needed.
If this sounds like a hunt you would like to join in on feel free to contact me for details.

Hunt runs $3000.00+ tax for the week and includes everything needed for Halibut & bottom fishing while on board. They do suggest a gratuity for the crew if happy with the hunt.
We will be hunting and sleeping in three staterooms with a hunting buddy,[hopefully one that does not snore too loud] on a newer and very nice 60' charter boat.
Homer Ocean can be reached at:
www.homerocean.com/bear_hunting.htm (http://www.homerocean.com/bear_hunting.htm)
They do have a toll free line posted on this site. I have used it with questions and they are always happy to answer.
Fees are :
7 say fishing lic. $55.00
Hunting Lic. $85.00
Bear Tag $225.00
Your actual air fare ?
If you read the great article in the June/July issue? It describes the hunt real well with the exception that ours will be a "Spring Hunt" and the Bear are alot more concentrated on the Tidal Flats as that where the new grass is that they require after hibernation to get the digestive system working again.
I was told that it's not uncommon to take a bear that will square 6' at this time and with a beautiful coat.
We have scheduled our week trying to allow for a possible late spring thaw but still "early enough" to have a great chance at a bear before the season progresses too far.
As you know if you have read the article, all hunts are fair chase...once a bear is sited you the "Hunter" are taken into the beach and dropped off. At that point it becomes one on one with no guide. [ Thats the way I like it !!] :wavey:
TTT for a great trip
id love to make this trip maybe next time
I have been getting PM's requesting on this so am moving it bck up so they can find it :wavey:
ttt

You boys take LOTS of pictures; I've always wanted to do one of these boat hunts
What Steve said!!
Good Luck fellas
I am going to imagine those bears as abig hairy hog and I'll be fine!
Thomas,
What a cool trip !!!!!
I predict Swinebreakdancer will kill 2 in 1 shot....sadly combined weight together, they will not equal my boar's weight :)
Way to go bud!!!
Joebuck, did you weigh yours? Or are you one of those guys that doesn't weigh it but the animal kelps growing long after it's been shot?
Girth was 51" on the ground......you can look up the math! Good luck . Print out this pict and keep in your wallet for reference :D

Wow your really something else, your the man!
I think it's great you have a place like this to promote yourself, do you have any more pictures of bears you have taken? I sure it was'ntt just a first bear luck thing.
Nice bear Joey. Nice reply Thomas. You guys sound like Felix and Oscar, LOL. Congratulations and good luck, T. Grant
uuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhh.......daaaaaannng.....No love at all. Just answering your weight question, Dancer........maybe Grant will take me one day. I would like to kill one out of treestand since i'm too fat to stalk now....
have fun up there Thomas. I have looked into that place it looks like it should be a lot of fun for all of you. We want to see lots of pictures.
I think if I shot a Boone&Crockett bear from the ground as my first, I'd move on to more challenging things like turkeys and pigs too :goldtooth:
I suppose the next thing you're going to tell us is you killed it with a home made bow too...
There you go Joey, doors open...
Of coarse a homemade bow!..........but man ole man this is a great hunt ya'll guys are going on. I hear the food is out of this world only if you like fresh crabs and prawns ( prawns is Alaskan for big a$$ shrimp)....i'm jealous...Hogdancer is also a 100 ton rated captain in his on right on the highseas..he's good help and if the fishing or crab potting is bad, hail throw him overboard...He's a Spearfisherman!! Louisanna State Champ 1995..........i can't get my mind off the food ya'll are going to eat plus S.E Alaska has some of the largest black bears in NA......i am jealous...
Thanks Joey, main reason I am going is at your suggestion and listening to some of your stories. Can't wait, wish you were coming along! And I will probably be shooting my bow that YOU taught me how to make!
Thats a lie!! all i told you was which side the sight window went on...
Congrats Killinstuff you will enjoy keeping company with Hogdancer . And Thomas best of luck up there , Fred
Well it sounds like you two guys kissed and made up. That's nice.
Thanks Thomas for taking that last spot, I really didn't need to buy another hunt this year :-)
Thanks Mr "bigheart"...hey where DID. That thread go, someone should bring it back up top!
No,no,no....let it die....please!
This is the hunt I'm going to give Myself for My 50'th birthday. Three years from next Thursday. I'll be watching this thread closely.
Good luck Guys. You take advantage of all that fresh Crab and Shrimp and kill a BIG BEAR!!!!
I am really looking forward to it. Thomas sold me a Robertson Longbow off eB.. a few years ago. I never could tune that thing. Hmmm? I always thought it was just me but you guys make it sound like the Hogdancer has a dark side to him.
CJ
Good luck Thomas! I hope you find a bear. :wavey:
Thanks, I hope I do more than just find one
