Somebody I think it was Rob posted about it being a good time to pick up feathers a while back so me and my kids have been going to a couple of public lakes around here and it has really paid off. Lots of fun and it is really easy to make and grind a feather. I have even got to try a couple different designs and it did not cost me a thing. We go to the park and play and then go get whatever decent feathers are around and then we wash our hands. Been lots of fun thanks Rob I think?

I have been picking up feathers, also. Someone told me to freeze them for 3-5 days. It kills the mites that eat the feathers. I have been doing it and have not had a problem with them. Bill
My mom lives on a lake and feed the geese so I acquire them by the BUCKETS..
love them goose fletchings - stiff, naturally oiled and, umm, FREE for the taking, yeah, the down side is their natural camo makes 'em hard to see when they hit game ... on the other hand, don't really need a fletch cover for yer bow quiver. :D

Nice Rob. Top is perfect. I've used found bird feathers awhile now. If too flimsy, I lightly spray with clear coat first.

in the pic, top arra fletches were chopped with a modified li'l chopper hi-profile, bottom arra fletches chopped with a vario lo-profile. all the feathers i gather are stiff and durable ... all are chopped to 4.5" for a 75x105 4-fletch.
