Milk jugs filled with water and a little food coloring. Kids think its cool! And like vermonster13 said......balloons are always a hit.

I forgot to add that if you hang the milk jugs from pulleys and a rope it's a hoot to have to people shooting at. The kids love it!

Put some talcum powder or flour in the balloon before blowing it up.  Nice visual effect when it gets popped.

How about a backyard safari with animal crackers?

6 or 7 layers of cardboard glued together with a strong solvent based contact cement and cut into 12 inch disks on a bandsaw with a circle cutting jig and painted with a bullseye on both sides works very well for rolling or even thrown target with flu flus for those who might be able to safely shoot moving targets. I have never found a kid who didn't like that best of all the shooting activities we have done.

I am going to make a cardboard dinosaur target for a young fellow that I have given a bow to.

As most young boys are enthralled with dinosaurs, I think that a dinosaur target will be just the thing for this young archer.

8-10 layers of cardboard glued together, and a dinosaur outline cut out with a sabre saw.

Some green and black paint, done!
