Ok guys, we need to do a tally for who's camping with a vehicle at the range and who's going to eat breakfast at the range. There will be breakfast for those who want to attend at the range on Sat. and Sun. morning. Since we will be starting at 9am for the clinic the kitchen will be open for coffee at 6am, with breakfast coming as soon as the cooks wake up from the coffee! Breakfast will be something simple like eggs, sausage, pancakes or muffins, fruit, juice. For those who are staying in town and plan on eating there before coming out for the 9am start time let me know that as well. Thanks for your help with this!
I will be staying in town and will eat breakfast there. I would like to eat lunch with the gang at the range, and plan to attend the BBQ on Saturday night. I will be happy to kick in for whatever my share of the grub is, and appreciate all the work being done on our behalf.
Snag,
I called Ted this morning and he mentioned the words poison oak, miraculously, when my wife got home from work she had managed to find us a room. Go figure ;)
Like McDave, I will be staying in town and grab breakfast before heading to the range, be eating lunch at the site, and we will be at the BBQ.
Hi Dave
Camping at the range, eating breakfast there and dinner at Teds BBQ.
Adam and I will be staying in town and would like to have b'fast at the range and lunch too please; and dinner at Ted's.
Let us know what we need to do. We can pitch in with getting stuff-coffee, eggs, bacon, lunch stuff etc. and cooking too. We can bring a 2 burner naptha stove, fry pans-you just let us know.
I'll be driving up with Kurt and will be camping at the range and willing to make and eat breakfast there. Also looking forward to the Saturday night BBQ at Ted's. I'm willing to help out however you need just let me know.
So far we have:
VEHICLES: 5 CAMPERS:8 BREAKFAST:9
I'll look over who else hasn't replied yet.
I have a 2 burner propane stove. There was a statement by someone yesterday that he was bringing an "expedition" stove. I think if there is one more stove and 2 more tables we should be able to have a pretty good kitchen setup.
Items to bring:
1)One more stove...we have 2 now.
2)Water containers with water-for cleaning up and cooking. I will bring 2 5gal.
3)Utensils-lets make this easy. We will need plastic forks and knives and paper plates.
Drink containers-for juice, coffee, etc.
4)Paper towels, soap, wash basin, scrub brush, garbage bags-clean up items. I will bring these.
5)Does anyone have one of those canopy shelters for shade? You know those pop up 4 legged shelters? If not, I'll buy one. Please let me know.
6)For those of us camping...ear plugs, your neighbor might get a reeeaal good sleep and be vocal about it!!! :biglaugh:
7)I will bring luncheon and breakfast items. I will have the receipt with me. If anyone wants to chip in a percentage of the cost that would be great.
8)COFFEE! Everyone likes their coffee made a certain way and with a certain grind....I will be bringing fresh ground beans, medium roast. I plan on buying a regular old camp coffee pot to heat water in. Then I'll use a carafe and filter. I'll also have cream and sweetners.
I probably missed somethings. So, join in guys and add to this. As we have volunteers for items to bring I will edit this and mark them off. Thanks for your help! David
Hi David...you keep amazing me with your outstanding organization.
I will be driving down from WA, camping on site, and eating at the range...including Ted's BBQ.
I will bring a 10X10 popup shade thingy for the hot sun and/or rain.
I will bring an old fashioned gallon size coffee pot. :coffee:
I will bring 10 gal. fresh water.
I will bring some cups for coffee/juice.
I can bring all the water you want-daily; maybe fill a cooler Fri PM and take it to the range and that can be used for everything except drinking.
Let me know about anything else.
The big stove was me.
I can bring 4 or 5 5 gal waters
I have muck buckets that would work for wash buckets
another sun shade
Do we need more than 2 tables? I have a bunch of folding tables.
Happy to hear about the big coffee pot!!
Way to go guys!
Kurt, you and I have stoves. One more would be nice. The pop up will be great! One less thing for me to buy. Thanks.
Lon, another pop up..alright! We'll need the shade in July. Also a coffee pot! I was headed out to buy one. No I don't have to! Thanks.
Kurt if you have another folding table we could use it. Thanks.
Bjorn, looks like we will have plenty of water! Thanks for the offer.
YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!
So, to recap this we will have 3 pop up canopies. Sean "Treebeard" will bring one, Kurt "Kurtbel5 will bring one and Lon "Blackhawk" will bring one.
Water= Lon(10gal), Kurt(why don't you bring 10gal), and I'll bring 10gal. That ought to be more than enough for washing up and using for coffee.
Stoves=Kurt and I will bring stoves...could use another one.
Tables=I'll bring one...we could use 2 more. I figure if we have 2 cooking tables and 1 for washing utensils and pans we'll be fine.
Coffee pot and cups=Lon has us covered! I will bring a carafe with filters and fresh ground beans also for drip coffee.
Wash basin=I will bring one with soap and paper towels.
*I will bring a cutting board and a non-stick skillet and a spatula. ***We could use 2 MORE SKILLETS with spatulas.
How about a small packable shovel??? That way we can bury our wash water. I do this on river rafting trips...but with other's shovels.
I think if 3 or 4 of us bring an extra one or two camp chairs we can provide chairs for those who are flying in. I'll bring an extra one or two.
I can bring a 2 burner stove and a skillet with a spatula.
If that works for you Bjorn that would be great.
At lunch I went shopping for a few items. I bought:
2 non-stick griddles to fit camping stoves
24 thick paper plates
24 plastic knives,forks,and spoons
2 rolls of paper towels
1 wash basin
1 cutting board
1 spatula
1 10cup coffee carafe w/ a filter holder
I will be camping at the range, eating there sounds great to..
I will be bringing a stove a couple of dutch ovens and a griddle along with cooking utensils..
I have a couple hundred hot/cold cups and paper plates, and a big box of plastic forks knives spoons and several rolls of paper towels,,All good heavy duty stuff from costco..
I can bring two coffee pots.. A table and some chairs.. And just the regular stuff that goes with camping out..Plus whatever grub is needed..
Will it be ok to get there a day or two early??
or should i find some place else to camp until things get going??
There will myself and some others that will be there Friday...come on over! If you were thinking of coming in on Thurs. you should PM Treebeard (Sean) and ask if that would be ok to camp Thurs. night at the range. Wow, you've got it all James. We won't be in need of a thing with the what others are bringing too. Looks great!
This is sounding more like a month long expedition to outer Mongolia than a two day campout. :bigsmyl:
:archer: ...and I like it. :archer:
It does doesn't it Lon! It's tough being out in the wilderness! :biglaugh: But I figure better to have than not have. Looks like we have all bases covered.
Just as I was typing this a light went on...we don't have any commitment for lanterns! I have one I'll bring.
I have all the same gear and can bring whatever. I have emailed Kurt to see what exactly what he's bringing . I was thinking of not bring duplicates but if you guys think it's needed we can do that I will bring another pop up shelter also. I also have a Camp Chef or Camp Chief stove and cooking gear. It sounds like the water is covered but I have some nice 15 gal. containers I use that should guarantee we don't run out of water.
I forgot to add I have two camp tables i can bring also.
I will bring a lantern also.
Now who is responsible for hiring the Sherpas?
(Sherpa- A term used to refer to local people, typically men, who are employed as guides for mountaineering expeditions in the Himalayas, particularly Mt. Everest. They are highly regarded as elite mountaineers and experts in their local terrain) :goldtooth:
I think we will have several "mules" around camp to help out Lon! ;)
I received payment in full for Biglegmax and his son-in-law. So we are all ready guys! We are all "committed".... :knothead: ....well something like that! :goldtooth:
Count on me for a lantern too I hear it gets mighty dark in Mongolia! :bigsmyl:
Don't want to trip on a Sherpa!
I hope somebody takes alot of pics to post on here afterwards so those of us that can't make it can see. It sounds like you guys are gonna have a great time and fellowship.
good luck and have fun.
I'm sure there will be many pics taken Smallwood. I will be bringing my camera for sure. Have to get those "Before" and "After" shots! Some of those "Candid Camera" shots too.... :bigsmyl: ..
I was going over the list with my wife and she laughed, her comment is, same stuff is needed for 2 days or 10, just more food.
ok, I am back,,
I am going to drive a car to Portland,, bringing stuff is going to be limited to space..
I plan on camping at the range, tent style,
What is needed, or left to bring?
I can get maybe one more chair in. Coolers are going to be space prohibitive, I can purchase stuff at the local town. My wife, and three kids want to come; they plan on doing other things while we are shooting. I have never been to
Portland or the area so, Almost a short vacation..
What do "I need to do SNAG" Or bring or get, or ????
Well, I just was able to read this thread after a month of very limited time on my PC and I see alot has been planned already. I plan to camp and eat on site. Don't know what else you all may need (it sounds like there will be plenty of gear!), but I have a 3 burner propane stove, lanterns, two 6 gallon water containers, a 12'X16' pole canopy... I can arrive early on Friday to help set up and do whatever else needs to be done. Just let me know! Thanks Dave for all your work organizing this event.
Dave
I kind of specialize in web/photo documenting events I go to. My web site is my scrapbook, so there will be at least one web presentation of things. It'll also be documented as Arrowl Flynn's first adventure as a traveling bow.
Bring extra food, Rod likes to eat!!
Dave the canopy and lanterns would be great! If you want to show up Friday there will a few of us there and we'll put you to work...and we can do some shooting!
snag, do you have everything covered?
Weather reports look nice and warm for the weekend. Extended forecast says mostly sunny in the low to mid 80's.
Hmmm.... I posted this earlier but it hasn't appeared. Brent and I were wondering what we could bring or contribute re eats. Is there a freezer at the range or close enough? We could show up with several gallons of ice cream.
No freezer Dick.
Everything is going along well. Thanks for all the help guys. I've got the food buying list in place and will get that done Thurs. Load up that night and be on the road Fri. morning.
Lon, great to see we will have great weather! Done here in Eugene we've had thunder and lightning and rain on Sunday...made me wonder!
Dick, the Pope & Young will be fun the following weekend. Our club has made a great novelty shoot!!! That's all I'm saying! haha
Got a call from Rod last night. He is bringing a "helper" with him.
No freezer, well, darn... we'll think on the matter.
Gonna have to pass on the P&Y. I have the WA TBW Renezvous the weekend after that and I'm not sure I'm up to three weekends camping and shooting in a row so I'm going to rest up between the class and TBW. Wife is very happy about that, she worries.
Brent and I will pull in Thurs. afternoon or evening.
Probably best that you not plan on camping at the range until Friday, were on thin ice with the modern guys in the club as it is. Happy to have you show up here at the shop and camp in the yard till Friday.
OK... we'll come in on Friday morning. Quick question... Where is the shop in relation to the range? I have directions to the range, but we'd like to stop at the shop on the way.
