Just got home from Compton. Wow, what a time. We have gone before but this year was the first my family went as full time volunteers. I can't begin to tell you about all the great people we worked with. I don't want to start naming names as I am sure to miss some. In spite of the weather we all had a great time. The storms on Thurs and Friday night tested us but everybody pulled together and put things back together.
This is what the vendors tent looked like Friday morning. As far as I know nobody got hurt.

By Friday afternoon the tent was back up and things were back on schedule such as the chili contest and dinner.

The camp fire for Saturday night had to be moved however due to this little monster staking out the camp fire pit. If it would have been a gator I'm sure some one in camp could have dealt with it but nobody wanted to mess with this guy.

Watching people get in the parking lot was entertaining as well.

The kids dutch oven cooking was a hit as usual.

And a good time was had at the dutch oven contest as well. This is my favorite and although I couldn't make it two wins in a row I enjoyed doing all of the sampling after. Congats to the winners. I'm planning for a comeback next year.

Oops, missed one of my favorite pics. Watching the kids was great fun. I'm sure they will be dissapointed if it doesn't rain next year.

No shots of the vendors tent inside?
Oberon
Thanks, Greg! I'd love to make it across one year!
Sorry no shots inside. The Compton folks reduced the size of their spot and put merchandise sales outside which helped to compensate for wet spot inside. But other than that it was pretty much like normal.
I neglected to mention Nathan Andersohn's presentation about his bighorn sheep hunts on Fri night was quite the experience. The storm hit after he got started and he just kept going despite the rain that was blowing through the tent. He outlasted the storm and a brief power interruption. Great job by Nathan. One I will remember forever!!!
