Title: banana fletching kicks up@release-help
Post by: Jim Wright on June 21, 2009, 06:57:00 PM
I am shooting some Douglas Firs with three 11/16" high, 4 7/8" long banana fletches and they visibly "kick up" at release on almost every shot. I have tried nock heights from 1/4" to 11/16" with a "strong" 7/16" seeming to work best. I have tried paper tuning and cannot get the high nock indicating tear under 2"in length. I am shooting a 62" Toelke whip (R.D. longbow)& my draw length is 29". There does not seem to be any spine problem, arrows fly straight enough. Any help is appreciated, I'm pretty much lost.

Rotate your nocks or try shooting cock feather down to see if that helps....just a thought.

As rata said rotate your nocks a little.  I was having the same problem with 5" shield cuts once and that's how I fixed my problem.

I appreciate the help, I had noticed a bit of undue wear on the hen under the cock feather where it is coming off the rest more than being in the groove between the rest & strike plate. I was hoping someone might know something magical, but I feel sure rotating the nocks up a bit will work. Thanks again.
