Title: I feel dumb asking but.....
Post by: 8up on January 05, 2007, 02:58:00 AM
I hope to get my first recurve in the mail tomorrow. I have read alot of post on here saying not to string a recurve without a stringer so I bought one. Its made by Neet. I have no idea how to use it, so will someone please explain to me how to use it?

Thanks, Ron

http://www.archeryexchange.com/information/info_pages/beginnersetup/stringer.shtml

This is the basic idea but each model is a little different. Just remember to turn your head to the side in case an end slips off you dont get hit in the eye

Nice link, Jerry!

The instructions show the shooter checking the seating of the string loops in the grooves after releasing tension on the bow stringer.

I humbly suggest that this should be done before the stringer is relaxed, visually and with a finger check with the free hand.
Wanna guess how I learned that?  :saywhat:

Hey, nobody ever learned anything by doing it right the first time, eh Killy?

I'll bet that since she came of age, a bow is the only thing that ever slapped Killy silly - (unless maybe it was a horse, by mistake, just tossing it's head) - and got away with it.   "[dntthnk]"

8up, are you near Dover,TN? I'm up there weekly working on an old place I bought by LBL. Maybe you can swing over one day and we'll check your new bow out. What did you buy?
