Title: Mounting a broadhead
Post by: Ssamac on June 16, 2009, 11:39:00 PM
I'm getting into broadheads like the old Bear razors. So do you mount the blade parallel to the string or at a 90 degree angle to the string (crosswise). I was also wondering what make good target medium for a broadhead (aside from a nice buck)

Thanks
sam

I'm using them as well and I plan to mount all mine vertically, but at the same angle as my cant. This way when I'm at full draw and canted they are 90 degrees to the ground and I have a windage reference.

That is a personal pref. But I mount my Magnus vertical or parallel to the string

A bank of sand is a good broadhead stopper and will not damage the heads or tear up like foam targets.

So OK straight up or sideways doesn't matter.Nice
I have a sandbank and thought that would hurt them over time. By bank of sand do you mean like building sand or like an earth berm?
Thanks

It doesn't matter how you mount them, they will fly the same. I use Bear Razorheads and mount them horizontal...just because that's the way I do it.    ;)    It's a personal choice, usually based on sight.   I have a dirt bank as well.  Best darned broadhead target made.....next to a large ant hill 8^).    :saywhat:
