Title: Jan Browns New Kwyk Styk...Additional Pics Added
Post by: joe skipp on June 16, 2009, 05:12:00 PM
Jan's "Vanilla" bow finally arrived this afternoon.

Jack was about 6 weeks behind due to the death of his daughter. That really hurt when he told me. Well...he got back to business and here are some pics of Jans Static Limb kwyk Styk.

The bow is 58", 48# at 29". The riser is Dymondwood Cocobolo with maple accents. The limbs are Red Elm, stained to match the riser with Maple wedges and phenolic overlays. I took a few minutes and ran a 476 grain GT XT hunter 55/75 out of it along with a AD Trad Lite.

The bow spit them out beautifully and is super smooth out to 31" draw. Here are the pics...

beautiful bow. Curt "Guru" has a bow named Cy because of a spot that looks like an eye. durn if this riser don't have an eye as well. looks like a wolf's eye or something.   (http://www.burnhamphotography.com/galleries/events/photos/wesgallery/p4150002.jpg)

i'm waiting patiently for a kwyk styk myself. very sorry to hear of Jack's loss, that's terrible news.  prayers sent and i'll be thinking about him.

thanks for sharing Joe...

Looks like the top half of a wolf's head in the grain. Vanilla, heck, I'd call her Fire Wolf. Very, very nice.

After seeing Curt's Kwyk Styk last Dec./Jan. in Texas I decided to give Jack a call and not only does he make a fine bow, but just a down right super nice guy. After talking with him on the phone several times we came up with a bow and I put my deposit down.  I can't wait to see the end result, even if Jack is running 6 weeks behind I should still be stalking critters come fall.

Is that what they call a static tip on the limbs? Dosn't look like it would unwrap very easy. Pretty tight curve. Beautiful bow you have there.

I ordered this bow from Joe... 9 months ago! Well worth the wait! Outstanding performance... shoot real nice! Very, very fast, stone cold accurate, and packs a serious punch. Flat shooting, almost unreal how smooth the draw is! You just have to shoot it to believe it! Vanilla my backside, take a look at those pictures! Have only had a chance to shoot her a couple of times with my work and teaching schedule @ West Point. Have a 3D shot scheduled for this fathers day (Sunday) will have more to report after the days activities are completed. Jan

PS: Jack is a true master craftsmen! Joe Skipp is my friend and all round nice guy... but don't tell him I said so!    :notworthy:    :)

Jan, Just amazing how smooth a bow can be at only 56".  If you blindfolded someone and handed them a KS(without them knowing what you were giving them) and asked them to draw it and guess the length and weight...I'd bet 100% would be over in the length and under with the weight....

And like Serg said...look at the string angle with those static tips...

Just an outstanding design!!

I agree with Guru, Jacks bows are the best  of the best His Sealth recurve is smooth and fast  as is the Kwyk Styk He also makes a Model called a Raven which has recurve limbs or long bow limbs your choice or have both sets of limbs with one riser,, and don't forget the little Grizzly flat bow ,, he also has many other models to pick from ,, Very fine Bows built by a fine   World Class Craftsman and good Guy Jack Kempf Trads best kept secret !!      :notworthy:

Sergio, Thanks for the kind words re: my shooting form! Went with the lighter weight in this bow and the last couple I've had made... right choice for me post shoulder surgery. Like Curt... I'm a believer in Jack and his product line!  :archer:
