Title: 3-D Targets and the Sun
Post by: michigan bill on June 16, 2009, 10:02:00 AM
The sun out here in West Texas is really rough on our 3-D targets.  We have at least one target of every brand that is made.
This is my question:  has anyone tried an Armor-All or similar product to protect targets from the sun?  Has anything worked even a little?
Thank you, gents.

Bill

I put a tarp over mine to help protect it when I'm not useing it. Just a plastic tarp from Wal Mart and a couple of bungee straps does the trick.

I pour Armor all on my Reinhart targets and they do ok in the CA sun.  I also just toss a towel on them sometimes.

I use some water based deck sealer suggested by Reinhart called Seal-tec.It HAS to be the water based sealer because the oil based sealer will react with the foam.   I have been using it for years and it works great. One application a year and my targets still look like new. In harsher sunlight conditions you would probably have to do two applications a year.
