Plan to be camping at Compton's just wondering if there are mosquito's and the need for a thermocell?
I've assumed the worst and am bringing two thermacells with plenty of refills. Even though the mosquits have been fairly mild so far in Wisconsin I'm certain they are ready to take full flight.
The St. Joe River runs right along the grounds, skeeters can be bothersome....where there is water there are mosquitos. Come prepared to fight 'em off. Although some years are better than others there are always some to deal with.
There has never been much problem with them in the camping area. But in the woods shooting the 3D courses they can get thick at times but still not bad. But with that said it is always best to come prepared for them. I live just 80 miles north of Berien Springs and the bugs have been bad this year up here. I went out to collect my turkey blinds from the woods last weekend and about go carried away!!
I don't know a place in the lower 48 where skeeters don't frequent. Take something to repel them.
Worried about a couple little mosquitoes? I thought you was tuffer than that Bryce. Good thing that p-bear didn't realize that or he might-a came and walloped you, lol!
The Berrie Springs Club usually fogs the ranges and camping areas a time or two before the event. That cuts down the skeeter problem considerable.
I'll be packing my thermacell. Last couple of years the fogging on the course has been really effective and they haven't been much of an issue, but never hurt to be prepared. dino
OK Steve, you got me! By the way, how about sharing the story with us of that big bruin in your avatar? Are you going to Comptons? Hope to meet up with you and shot a round.
Bryce: Shot that black bear in September 2000 in SE Alaska. I shot it on my mother's birthday so call it "Mom's bear"! I used an osage selfbow, hand-forged damascus trade point (forged by Doug Campbell, ground out by myself). Shot was about 9 yards. Nice big punkin' of a noggin that is a wee bit shy of 20".
Summer is busy so no MI for me. Been meaning to ask you which species you have under your belt and which ones do you have 2009 plans to chase? You can PM me if you want.
With all the people there, the skeeters are well feed and not much of a bother.
Berrien County Sportsman's Club sprayed for mosquitoes today but they haven't been bad at all yet. Who knows what will happen if it gets to 90 degrees like they have predicted.
Can you use Thermacells in tents?
I've used mine in my tent but just to be safe I left a vent open up top.
Larry what's the weather forecast for over there this weekend?
They haven't been that bad in the past couple years. It adds to the realism of the 3-D course!! :biglaugh:
Bring your own. There hasn't been enough to go around the last couple years.
