Hello All,
For those of you who have been using the calculator I have release an improved version. The improvements include additional shaft selections and an automatic compensation for the effect of total arrow weight on the dynamic spine.
The latest version can be downloaded from a couple different sites:
CLICK HERE #1 (http://www.tradarcher.com/tools/DynamicSpineCalculatorRev6-11-09.xls)
I hope it works well for you!

 Thanks Stu
I have had an odd thing comparing full length shafts and shorter ones. They act different when set up with point weights to have the same spine on the old calculator. With the new version I get a little different number on my full length shaft. Now I need to test it.
thought my shafts were shooting good but now they don't match up with the calculator???
I'll try what the chart says now for fun but think it'll shoot better with the old calculation. We will see.
Thanks for the program, Stu. I have enjoyed using the previous versions and successfully, I might add. Will you continue to post updates here?
Ray
Thank you for the update!
Thanks Stu!!
I was wondering if you found a new home to host the calc.
Great info as usual.
Mike
I'm getting different figures from old to the new calculator...? For CE 350s the new calculator is saying to go 50gr more in tip weight! I have already bareshaft tuned based on the old calculator and they flew good.....?
Hello All,
I was contacted last night and also this morning by a few of you who had already begun to use the new calculator version. It seems like there was a problem with the total weight compensation with shafts that were approaching the extremes of both light and heavy spines. I spent most of the afternoon pouring through the equations and sure enough, I "fat fingered" the numbers in the weigh correlation formula. I hate when I make these stupid little mistakes!
I totally apologize for the error and any confusion it has caused on your guys end. Please delete the 6/11/09 file and use the 6/12/09 version that is being uploaded to the same sites posted above. You can also send me your email address and I will send it directly to you if that is easier.
I have checked it thoroughly for all shaft spine ranges this time and I trust you will find the compensation to be accurate and a improvement over the March release.
Sorry once again and a big thank you to those who pointed it out and helped with the solution.

I ran the numbers on some "extreme" spined shafts...you FIXED it Stu! Good job. You are a real blessing to many of us who like to set up our arrows without a lot of trial and error. I, for one, really appreciate you working on this. I guess it's just like any new invention...just needed a little tweaking to get it to run right! Good job!
Thanks for that Stu
It just so happens that I just purchased and then bareshafted some new "darts". It was the best tune ever. I entered the numbers and they matched exactly.
Good stuff.
Yes the new version rev 6-12-09 is the one you want. I am maintaining a page for Stu Miller's
Dynamic Spine Calculator
http://www.heilakka.com/stumiller
You can download the various versions and a pdf of the instructions.
What a great guy! Thanks Stu.
Thanks Les!
Thank you Stu. My wife thinks its a little strange I can be entertained for so long with a calculator, but it is the best I've come across for trad equipment. Also thanks to Les for hosting
You know it's funny, many years ago I was at a wildlife commision meeting in Washington State and Jay St. Charles was talking about a 400 gr. restriction on arrow weight. He stood up holding an arrow that weighed 437 gr and said his wifes 40# curve just loved it but he didn't know why.
Well now we have a tool that will tell us why.
The arrow was a 30" 1816 with a 125 gr BH, the bow was one of Jays curves cut 1/8 outside of center. the match is 34.8 - 35.7
Thanks Stu!!!
