Title: Need carbon arrow advice for Blk Widow 48#
Post by: sd_archer on June 11, 2009, 07:15:00 PM
Hi, Id welcome any input on a carbon arrow choice for a Black Widow, 48* @ 28". Most of the charts i look at show .400 spine, but I've also read recommendations of .500. Any help is greatly appreciated.

John try cx 150's work great for me, seem to fly great from 46lbs to about 54lbs draw weight. You might have to play with length and point weight. I just cut mine 29 inches and never had any trouble. TD.

I shot some cx 150 full length out of a 45@28 PSAX this weekend and they flew like darts.

I have a 47@27 PSA X and cut my arrows to 29" with 150gr to 300gr heads up front. Both the CX 150 wood grain and AD lites fly great.

I shoot Vapor 2000's and GT 35/55's.  My poundage with my Widows varies from 44# to 48#@ 27" and both of these shafts tune beautifully using different lengths and point weights.

I have bemen / easton in the 500 spine. My bow is a samick hawkeye  ( BW Like alike ) in 50 lb at 28 inch... I left the arrows at 29 1/2 and my actual draw is 29. I have the arrow fletched with 3 5.5 inch bananna feathers and a 125 gr field tip. I did put into the arrow 1/8 inch poly rope to increase the weight. This seems to work very well and does not increase or decrease the spine of the arrow.I also shoot these same arrows out of my checkmate firebird at 49 at 28 inch.

Buddy of mine is shooting Axis 400's from his 50# widow.  500's are weak for him.  He draws 28" and his arrows are 31"BOP.
