Title: Anyone notice vibration with carbon limbs
Post by: Red4arm on June 09, 2009, 11:11:00 PM
I  recently built a new takedown recurve for myself, same design as I have built in the past. 60" 73 lbs @28 superaction green mtn camo riser. 15 strand b-50 flemish string with beaver balls. Shoots like a rocket 195fps with 6ooish gr CX250 arrow.Very accurate, but has some shock that my bows with no carbon have ever had. Anyone shooting carbon bows noticed this, do I need to add more silencers? do I need more arrow?

John
You mite try shooting under 60# and a 12 stran D-97 string. I have three carbon limb bows, no hand shock at all, but there all around 54# @28 good luck.  :saywhat:

I have a recurve and a "D" shaped longbow, both with carbon, both past 60#, both smooth. My longbow has carbon and no glass so it is 40% lighter than one with glass so smoother still. I'm not a bowyer but I think it may lie in how and where the carbon is applied. Adding a heavir arrow may help as well as moving where you have the silencers.

Thanks for the input guys, I just like heavy bows, I am trying some different arrows, and brace heights. I applied the carbon under the outer layer of glass. Makes a quick bow for sure. The speeds where at my 27" draw.
