What do you think??
Adcock/A&H ACS-CX
Black Swan Hybrid
Centaur Carbon Elite
Morrison Shawnee Dakota Carbon Foam
Zipper Carbon Foam SXT
Alphabetical order.
Shrew gets honorable mention and after I try a Carbon Foam may very well knock one of the others out.
Now there's a list for ya too choose from! Good luck, them are some nice bowyers!!
Ah shucks David...you got to try out, oh yeah you already did!
There are probably 20 more that will fit in your top 5 according to who you talk to but Vermonster has probably shot those too!
i like his list, but i'm kind of partial to the Habu vyperkahn (too expensive, too long a wait), and to the Cari-bow Peregrine...a 3-piece vs. 1 piece. My whisperstic Kajikastic is right up there also..and then there is the...oh well, you get the point. The list can go on and on.
What do I think? Mmmmmmm.....
Super Shrew Gold
RER LX
Griffin
Chaparral Kaibab (new to me today)
Hummingbird Kingfisher (in the mail)
* Ain't I A Lucky Guy? *
... mike ... :D ...
There are a lot of bows that could easily go in there depending on grip preference etc etc. These are rock solid and something in there should fit just about anyone.
You only hear about Kempfs Kwyk Styk and Stealth but his one piece longbow is a shooter. His 58" to the 62" are smooth and fast.
Thunderstick
My top 5
Hummingbrid Kingfisher
Mohawk
Kanati
Thunderstick
Pronghorn
Hard to pick a favorite but right now Im loving my 2 pice Mohawk
Brittman....yours is the middle class top 5 8^)...affordable to us peasants. Much too subjective to even start suggesting a top 5.
I love my Griffin
My top 5 that I have shot are:
Fox
Mohawk
Pronghorn
Griffin
Navajo Apache
Treadway!
MOAB , Shrew, Kingfisher by hummingbird, Acadian Woods, would be my choices..marco
Big River
IT is possible you will find as many answers as bowyers. There are way to many good ones.
Hi,
"Herway Carnivore" by Kevin Brown
"Vagabond" by James Parker
"Mystery" by M. Potts (anybody know this fellow?)
MOAB!!!!!!!!
I mostly shoot recurves. but the few i have shot i sure like Roy Hall's bows.
Leon Stewart slaqmmers td and Great northern fireballs with the jacknife hinge system
I agree with what has been said, you must try em out and decide for yourself. What works for me, may not work for you. That said, it is hard to find one better than a 62" Toelke Whip (for me, anyway)...Mike
there are many bowyers who produce quality longbows but i must choose on what i call the "poorboys list"
bear montana
martin savana
i also own a robertson purist{bought used}
but now i am in the process of ordering a black widow thanks to my wonderful wife; just making sure of the poundage because this bow will last me until i am gone...... :campfire:
Mike Treadway's bows have shot the best for me.
I love my Turkey Creek, though.
Great Northern Fireball! Had the rest, stuck with the best, for me anyway :)
:archer:
Northern Mist
Liberty
:campfire: :coffee:
Hi All,
Apparently it's a well kept secret, but my Tomahawk is 62" and my wife's Tomahawk is 58"!!
THUNDERHORN.
That's like asking us to define traditional archery!
Let me rephrase that. The one you can afford and shoot lights out with. Anything after that is a bonus. The one that does this for you... :archer:
I have owned and shot most of the brands listed above, all great bows, but for me,its Bob Lee.
Hummingbird
Hoots
Treadway
Stroupe
Not necessarily in that order except for the Hummingbird. Left out Dryad takedown. LCH
62 inch or under right?????
Toelke Whip
Toelke Whip classic
At 62" my Turkey Creek is the only one on my list and about the only carbon bow I care for.Shorter than that I like the Treadways as good as any if someone makes me shoot a short bow. :D
The best short longbow i've ever shot is my new 58" Leon Stewart Slammer!
I'll go with Turkey Creek, great shooting bows.
Bob Lee, Black Widow, Thunderstick Mag, Pronghorn.
I have not shot them all, but the list is building as I get chances to try stuff. I liked the longer Shrews I have shot. I liked the MOAB a lot for its speed and it shot very accurate for me. The Fury Extreme I am shooting now is nice. So far the stand out for me has been the Cari-bow Peregrine.
Treadway!!! They seem to be what I shoot the best.
Bill
the 'short riser' Bob Lee
RER Vortex
Treadway
Crow Creek
and MANY, MANY more
I haven't shot another bow since getting my Dryad Bushwacker. Mike and Jason are tops in my book on quality and customer service.... Terry
The Thunderstick III and Iron Mountain 58" shoot very well for me...
I'm with Rastaman...shooting my 60" Kajika from Whisperstik and loving it. 55@29" and chrono'd it the other day with 580 grain arrow at 180.4 FPS. I did this just for kicks...gave up on speed-readings when I took the wheels. It also shot a 475 grain arrow 201.3 fps again just checked because I had a chrono.
I also have a Martin Savannah that I like and shot for the last two years...great bow for the money. Granted for the $500 they cost you can get a nice custom from any number of bowyers.
Josh
I love my 60" Fox
Turkey Creek Double carbon would be my pick.
ttt

Don't know much about longbows, but I am starting to figure out my Treadway Black Swamp and I am finding it hard to put down.
I agree, I have 3 treadways, but just interested in some other good shooters.
I agree with Joe my Kempf Little Grizzly 56" is a nice shooting bow fairly fast and no hand shock ,, probably one best short long bows I have shot!
5 Elburgs: Cherokee, Jaguar Mite, Jaguar Magnum, Cherokee Magnum, etc, etc,
God bless,
Jose
ttt
My list would be:
Navajo Scout T/D
Griffin
Super Shrew Deluxe
Thunderhorn Coup Stick
Morrison Dakota 58" Longbow
