a friend has an old ben pearson super jet #50 that needs a string. no AMO mark, but it is 59" tip-to-tip.
any recommendations on a string length to start and a likely brace height?
is it worth the trouble?
they work well i gave one to my nephew for his birthday and he hasn't put it down yet it's 45#@28 shoots well i think we set his brace at 7 1/4inches. if it's 59" i think but could be wrong you would need a 57" or 56" string i would call 3 rivers and talk to one of there experts they would know more thin i do
Go three inches shorter than nock to nock length and you will be fine. The old Jets and Super Jets have been around a long time and a kid, or even old kid can shoot them forever. They can also be used for pole vaulting small streams, in a pinch 8^).
okay, turned out i had a 56" string... whoa that bow is LOUD!!!
and it hurts when the string whacks my arm
i killed a foam bear, and i need to muck around a bit with the nock point, but she seems to shoot good.
i think barb may want a lighter bow, though...
