The(Brevard) Transylvania County Arts Council
(T-Carts) is sponsoring an art and craft exhibit titled "Men in the Mountains". My wife is a member of T-Carts and suggested I submit some of my work for this exhibit.
The bow is guava from Manny Padroni in Hawaii with copperhead skin backing and zebra wood tip overlays. The handle wrap is hemp cord set with Massey finish and a floppy rest.
The arrows are hill cane with my modified 2 fletch turkey feathers. Two arrows have target points and one has an obsidian point. All sinew wrapped and sealed with pitch varnish. The obsidian point is hafted with pitch glue.
The quiver is my version of a Plains type and made of commercial tanned elk hide, hand stitched with a sourwood stiffener. The large buttons at the strap are osage rounds and the closure for the pocket is a ceramic medallion.

How cool!! Pat Brennan's work on display. I can say I knew him when he wasn't so famous. :bigsmyl:

Nice looking rig Pat. great job.
Thanks guys. I appreciate the compliments. This ought to get a bit of attention because it will be one of a kind at this exhibit. Everything else will be more traditional mountain crafts like furniture, pottery, metal smithing, basketry, etc. I'm looking forward to hearing comments from the local public.
Beautiful artwork Pat!!
Just fantastic Pat. You have a lot of talent.
Beautiful work.
Wonderful art and craftsmanship, Sir!

outstanding!!!!!
Thanks guys.
that's awsome, very nice craftsmanship on all the pieces.
when you get finished with showing your bow, i have an event at my house during deer season... :campfire:
Pat,
Very nice work! When I entered a traditional art contest (paintings, pottery etc.) I was quite surprised that my flutes won an "art" prize. You would think they would have to hear the flute or see that beautiful bow sling an arrow. A good judge will see your art and you will be a winner!
