krylon spray paint at wally world
Valspar High Gloss Lacquer. I think this is a Lowe's or Walmart brand. Works great and is a good bit stronger than regular spray enamel.
I use Minwax polycrylic spray for mine.
Basically, you can use any clear varnish, lacquer, or urethane; water-based or oil-based. HOWEVER, be sure it is compatible with the paint you've dipped and crested with. If you crested with enamel, for example and then spray on lacquer, you're not going to be happy. The lacquer eats the enamel. Additionally, a water-based varnish will not yellow as much as an oil-base varnish or urethane. If you're not confused yet, let me know and I'll try again!!!!
I forgot to mention......be sure the glue you use for your fletching is compatible with the clear spray. Wouldn't want your feathers falling off.
Scott, were you asking about lacquer for the actual crown, or a clear coat to go over it?
I have used "Beauti-tone" lacquer for "cap's" and fletched with fletch tape, and Bohning Platinum glue to seal the tip of fletches.
