I have a dozen AD Trad Lites and am waiting on new Hex V 56#(@ 28") limbs for my Border Ultra. The limbs should be delivered within two weeks.
I am very interested in specic AD Trad lite set-ups that have bare shafted well.
Your input would be most appreciated.
I shoot a 60" Brack 54#@28". My AD lites are 29" with a 200 grain tip. They bare shaft a tad weak and fly really great fletched up.
Former postings regarding Trad Lites indicate that they shoot on the stiff side. Your experince suggests otherwise.
I hope others will be willing to share their set-ups and experiences.
Your post asks specifically about bare shafting. I do not have experience bare shafting the Trad Lites; however, I currently shoot Trad Lites through longbows and recurves from 50# to 65#, with a point weight range of 225gr to 350gr. Arrows fly true when each bow is tuned in for nock point and brace height.
I draw 27", and shoot the Trad Lites cut to 29" BOP, with 4 fletch, using 4" X 1/2" bananas.

I have longbows and recurves from 46lb to 54lb includeing high performance carbon limbed bows. The AD lites with 150gr to 200gr tips fly like darts in all of them. I ordered 2 more dozen from Ted at Raptor archery this evening myself.
I have never tried bare shafting the AD's. I just got off the phone with a customer who I built some custom Hammerheads for. He shot them from his 50lb Recurve and his 68 lb longbow. Both bows had great arrow flight. The arrows weighed in at 900 grns.
While a deer hunter, my passion is hunting turkeys. My objective is to have approximately 10+ gpp arrow with EFOC and to enduce some forgiveness into the shootablilty of a 185g snuffer.
I am the customer that Paul talked to. He is absolutely correct in what he related. Those heavy arrows are twice as heavy as some others I was shooting at the same time. The Hammerheads also shot about a foot lower at 15 yards and were moving a lot slower. They did hit with exceptional authority and were moving the target around much more than my lighter arrows, especially with the 68 pound Shrew longbow. The tapered shafts make the AD arrows very spine tolerant, as has been reported by others. Paul built the heavy Hammerhead arrows for use with the Alaska Bowhunting Supply Ashby single bevel broadheads. I hope to put at least one of these arrows into the kill zone of a cape buffalo in a few weeks. These arrows have 100 grain brass inserts with 70 grains of additional weights that screw into the back of the insert. They also have the glue-in inserts and g-nocks in the rear. It is nice to have the easily replaceable nocks with the strong inserts since on the 15th shot with the arrows I did a partial Robin Hood and ruined a nock.
I have also shot the AD Traditionals and the AD Trad Lites, and all of them show great spine tolerance.
I shoot the Trad Lites from a 57# @ 30" Kohannah Fury Hybrid longbow and a 60# Kimsha Mattawoman Longbow. The arrow is 30.5" long and I've shot 150-250 grain tips/BHs with great flight.
They bare shaft a little weak, but fletched up, they shoot a WW and the big Snuffer like a dart.

Mine bareshafted well. I shoot a 29.5" AD arrow with 300 up front(100 gr brass insert, 125 tip, 75 steel bh insert) and 3-5" shield feathers. They shoot well from my Morrison Shawnee 54@27 recurve. They also shoot good from my 53@27 Whisperstik longbow.
The wood grain AD's seemed a little stiff for me so I only shoot the black ones.

I just got some, and they seem weaker than I thought they would be. I'm pulling a hair over 29" and with 125 heads I had to cut them down to 29 3/4" and they were still weak. I fletched one up and it flew good though, then I tried 145's, (what I really wanted to shoot with them) and arrow flight is just as good and they seem to be a little more accurate with them. The more I shoot em the more I like em. Oh yeah I'm pulling 50 lbs. on a longbow
I have a 55lb Howatt and pull 27 1/2". My AD lites are cut to 29 1/2" and I use the std insert and a 175gr tip. Bareshaft flight is great. The nice thing, I tried 125gr, 145gr and 175 gr tips and all shot great. Very forgiving!

The feedbaack, thus far, inidcates that these shafts are spined liighter than I initally believed.
