Poster child for all nimrods!
Amazing!!!
The message can't be serious.
Sadly, this is where our education system has failed us!
GrnMTTradnut,
Not pickin on ya, because I had this pointed out to me years back...but Nimrod used to be used in a much more positive tone..meant someone who excelled ...
From Webster.com: : a descendant of Ham represented in Genesis as a mighty hunter and a king of Shinar
Ain't it sumpin how time can change a meaning if used in a different light long enough? :)
Those people are ate up!! Jason
Tore up from the floor up.
I have to deal with city and or "subdivision" people quite a bit. Some personally but most professionally. They are so cut off from nature and the real world it still amazes me. I have dated more than one woman after spending a day outside with me that pulled a crawling tick off of their leg and gasped at me asking "what is this"??? They had never been off the pavement.... Sad. Needless to say inside city type women don't last long.. LOL

I suspect this really was intended as joke or simply a troll
How does it go?... "Can't see the forest for the trees."

Doesn't surprise me. Oh and when is is it entirely the educational systems fault in teaching basic information like that. Are parents totally disconnected from any responsibility. In addition to teaching reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies, we are busy trying to teach them hygiene, manners and responsibility since so many parents have abandoned teaching those things to their children.
You should hear the discussions I have with my students around this idea. It is amazing the children who have no idea about this basic knowledge. A large part in my opinion is the distance we have come as a society from the source of our food. Also Disney has become a major source of perspective for today's youth. It is hard to overcome the information from such a pervasive source.
Sorry about the rant, the end of the school year is extremely stressful.
Maineac: My apologies to you sir! That was not meant as a crack to the school educational system. I meant it as a whole in how far we have come from teaching the basic things in life. Should have worded it more carefully. So, my apologies if I offended anyone else. That was not the purpose of my remark.
Maineac - I wish you were wrong, but you're not. Way too many folks think Disney's "nature movies" actually represent nature. It's all friendly and cute and the animals love each other. Many people have some idea that animals who are not hunted, or who escape hunters, somehow move into some natural old age home and die peacefully in their sleep. And anybody who thinks the way animals die in a slaughter house is somehow better than they way they die when hunted is absolutely devoid of any clue.
Us common folk know what your talking about and you point of view
Our republic is in sad shape.
People who hate their own country and race.
People who believe food comes in a package.
People who think it's owed to them AND someone else should pay.
Those who do for ourselves and respect the methods and means that got us here, are few and far between; outside of this and other outdoor sites.
Eye of potato; artichoke hearts; peanut meat...venison;pork;beef....life begets life
Whoa! LOL! :D
It was just meant to be funny! :biglaugh:
(For obvious reasons).
Maineac, he's correct about the education system here; people on the forum usually work hard to raise their kids, but what I've seen from 35 years teaching them is that many, many parents-usually from the `burbs-don't spend much time with their children. They'll turn `em over to playstations, tv, and poor teachers (and I've known a TON of them) while they chase the new car, ski boat, fancy vacation, etc. That was when the economy was doing fine. Now, they're too busy chasing the bucks to keep all that junk. They don't even take the time to know their neighbors. Add "pc" to that mix, especially at a school, or in my case, a University, and most won't have a clue what the real world's anything other than "Free Willie". Thank God I'm a country boy!!!
My dad once had a grown man argue that milk came from a bottling plant like pepsi or coke. He was in his forties. Funny sad but true.
Ductape: Not completely wrong... if it's made of soy :D
duh........no other words can explain this person...
Whats that comedian say..."You can"t fix stupid" it seems he was right!!!!>>>-------> ron w
As my dad says, "them people aren't smart enough to pour water out of a boot if the instructions was on the heel."
As my dad says, "them people aren't smart enough to pour water out of a boot if the instructions was on the heel."
That would make a good t shirt.
My wife's college friend called her a liar because my wife said she drank raw milk as a child. The "friend" said raw milk would kill you.
I knew a woman who grew up in NYC who thought that ears of corn grew right straight up out of the ground, and that any meat without blue marks on it was probably poisonous.
My cousin, who is reputed to be intelligent, went to see the new lake with me Sunday. We walked across the dam of the 5-acre impoundment, which was built after harvesting a mature forest. None of the logging slash was cleared, since it's intended to be a fishing lake (the bass go in this month). There are saplings and brush showing all in the lake. A few logs had drifted down to the dam, and she asked me if I had put the logs in for the fish to hide under.
Every time I think I've heard the ultimate example of people's alienation from the natural world, something else comes along that tops it. I don't doubt that the person was serious about meat being made in the store.
