Hey everybody, I have a line on a Fred Anderson Cascade Mtn longbow - I don't as yet know the model. I was wondering if anyone owned one and what your opinions of this Hill style bow are. Also, the bow is 66", 59@26, would it draw out to my 29 1/2" without stacking up a bunch? Any idea as to what it is worth? I have seen some photos that show it to be in pretty good shape, maybe an 8.5 out of 10. Thank you.
I have a Fred Anderson Skookum longbow,it is a mild R/D.Mine is just beautiful, furniture grade cocobola riser with a touch of snakewood overlays on the riser and tips, high gloss finish. It is 68",68#@27,and it is a sweet shooting bow,no handshock I can feel but I like bows like this,Hill's and mild R/D bows.As far as stacking to your draw I can't say because I my draw length is 27",but you will probably pulling 68-69# at your draw length. What they are worth,I've seen them go for anywhere from $250 to $500 depending on condition and model.
Thank you John, The gentleman I am dealing with is in his 70's and has sent me a few pictures, but so far so good. Would you mind if I sent a couple of those to you for your review?
ballen, check the history forum for my reply...
Sure send me the pic's.
For sure 70 lbs at your draw length. Are you up for that kinda pull?
Hi Jeff,
I know it'll be a stout draw. I'm pulling 65# pretty comfortably on a 64" Abbott longbow I have, so I think I can work into it OK.
Thanks,
Bert
Fred made great bows. That's some history! And if the man as said is in his 70's, he probably took good care of it, Get on it!
If your used to those weights, I'd say go for it.
I have 5 of Fred's bows. 3 Hyaks, 1 diamondback and one mojo recurve. All are extremely smooth to draw and extremely quiet. They are great bows.
