Bought the Daughter a 25# take down recurve from 3 Rivers along with a half dozen Beman carbons in the 20 to 40# range. The set up causes the arrows to fishtail really hard to the left, striking the target at a nearly 45 degree angle at about 5 yards! It's not her grip or form. They do the same for me.
Suggestions to try first?

Also I should add, it doesn't matter how far the arrow is drawn. Short or full draw, the same thing happens...though at full draw it does so more violently.

What is the deflection of the arrows?
How long are they?
What is her DL?
What weight tips are you shooting?
Is she right or left handed?
The arrows were set up for her by the archery shop, based on her bow poundage and her strength level. Her draw length isn't optimum yet as she cannot draw to full length as of yet. I haven't weighed the tips because they were put on with the arrows by the shop. Only the bow was purchased at 3 Rivers.
I ask, because the trip to the archery shop is a significant trip and was hoping there might be some advice or things to try.

First off Dan the 20# range on the carbons is based on a full lenght arrow with at least 125grns. of point weight up front. Based on your limited info. I'd say those arrows are way over spined for your daughter. I say that because even if she was able to come to full draw I'm sure she wouldn't have any where near a 28" draw. I would suggest you try some light weight aluminum arrows in the 1516 or 1616 size range.
How old and or how strong is your daughter?
You may be right. The little woodies that came with the bow shot way better, but had tips that wouldn't stick in mud!
She's 14...but a skinny little thing who needs to build up her strength. We're working on that.

What numbers are on thoes arrows and how long are they?
Just because an archery shop set them up doesn't mean they knew a thing about trad bows.Could be some kid looked at a compound chart.Another trip might not help at all.Hard to say without knowing anything about the arrows.
She also needs a bow that she can come to full draw with even if it is 10 pounds.At one time 3Rivers had a good return policy.I haven't asked in a while.
Appreciate the replies. She can come almost to full draw now and the arrows are hitting with good force - albeit a little sideways :) The bow is two years old...so I'm sure 3 Rivers return policy, while generous, would probably not apply.
I'll make the trip back to the archery shop this weekend.

Try gold tip 1535s with a 125 grain pt. My wife shoots a 30# pound bow with 100 grain pts and they are darts!!
Have you tried to back up a few yards to let the arrow correct itself?
I agree those arrows are probably way too stiff, the only carbpns I found weak enough for my daughters bow are from carbon impact, and they are still a bit stiff. Try easton Jazz's.pete

Yup. The literally turn so sideways, they miss the target to the right! My long bow shoots darts from 5 feet to 25 yards. This isn't a distance problem. But thanks as well for the input.
Stiff arrows it is. Off to the archery shop tomorrow.
