Hello everyone.
I have a 50lb Bear Montana Longbow that I am drawing about 28".
While I am lacking in consistency, I want to try something other than the XX75 2018s at 29.5" that I have right now. There are 125 field points on the front and 5" of feathers on the back. They fly okay but seem to be spread out more than they should be. Then again, it could just be me.
Can I get some suggestions for other sizes or types of arrows please?
I am thinking of going to carbon but am unsure of what to look for as a novice shooter. I plan to get a jig to fletch my own as prebuilt arrow prices are rather high here in Ontario (from what I have been able to find). Might as well start fletching myself as some of the feathers on the arrows I have now have started their migration early.
I hope to hunt deer this year with the bow so a recommendation for a good broadhead would be good too.
There have to be some setups out there that will be a good starting spot.
Thanks.
Wes
I think maybe your 2018's are overspined try adding some more weight to the front end and see if that helps your groups. If that doesn't work I would think a 2016 would work.
i would get some cedar arrows and try them
GT 3555 w/ weight tubes shoot very nice in a set up like yours.
mine is 50# at 28" I draw about 27" 1916's with 100 grn tip , 5" shield cut feathers fly great, if i miss it's me not the bow and arrow setup. I have 2018's too but they dont work as well, same with the 2016's.
Thanks, gents. I will try some of those suggestions.
Wes
I shot 2016's out of my Montana (same specs). I was drawing 28" and using 125gr up front on a 30" arrow.
