I just arrived in country about a month and a half ago.I asked the MWR about this Archery range that I was told existed here on My FOB.They hardly spoke english and I don't think understood what I was asking about.Anyhow, today I found the range and it ain't half bad.So I got to thinking.I would like to introduce some of my fellow soldiers to trad archery.Problem is we don't have any equipment.I can get my personal gear from home, but several people have shown intrest. We are in need of just about everything,so I was wondering if any of you all Tradgangers could leand a hand.Any equipment that could be donated would be turned over to the MWR when I return to the States. Please PM me if you may be able to help.....BONES(currently in IRAQ ,FOB FALCON)

I personally don't have any equiptment to send but thank you for your service. My oldest son is currently in Marine Boot Camp, Parris Island, SC. I am thinking of making him a bow for future use if I can put a decent enough one together.
BTW, what is a MWR?
MWR stands for Moral Welfare and Recreation. The staff, civillians, are in charge of the activities on a post.Softball tournments,gyms,ph0ones to call home, internet, basically anything to take your mind off of where you are....
That's a great gesture you're doing. Unfortunately I don't have any extra supplies that would be of use to you either. I hope you can get something together. I am in the military too and I haven't been able to find an MWR with an archery range. That would be really cool though.
Would it be feasible to work with the USO-maybe help from corporate sponsors-, or other group, and have archery equipment made available at MWR's? Several months ago I had Kustom King send a Marine in Iraq a new TD and a dozen arrows. Problem is, when he left, I'm sure the bow did too. MWR equipment stays with them and when the soldier rotates out or moves to another FOB, the equipment remains for others to use. Just a thought.
I am thinking more along the line of Hunting organizations donating gear.
Get me as much info as possible and I'll pitch it to my local Oregon Huter's Chapter.
We pass a hat every meeting that helps purchase supplies for our military guys like phone cards, phones, etc.
In addition, we collect hunting mags. and send them over to you guys on a regular basis.
