Hey Guys,
I have bare tuned one of my test shafts(CX-250), so that it shows just a little weak as a bare shaft. Put four, offset 4" feathers on the shaft but get just a little movement with the 125 broadhead.
I have a Jo-Jan fletching jig, and called my cousin (whom has one also) to barrow his JoJan helical clamps (I only have the straight). I want to try a 5" helical. He said that he didn't think the jig would have enough arrow width to put the helical on a carbon shaft.
Anybody have a Jojan an put helicals on carbons. If not what jig do you have to use to put a helical on a carbon shaft.
Thanks in Advance!
I have fletched several CE Heritage 250s with the JoJan RW helical jig. Works great! No problem with getting the feather to find enough shaft.
Snag,
Did you use 5" feathers?
I have used both 5 and 5 1/2 and can get some helical on them with the jojan and a grayling jig.
I flecth my ce 150's with three 5" with right helical with my jo jan. No problems here.
I'm new to carbon but this much I know. I put a full off set and full left wing helical on my Trad only and gold tip shafts. (5/16 dia)
I have perfect arrow flight bare shaft and with the full off set and full helical they spin every broadhead I've got straight and true to the target. I use the Jojan multi fletcher in left wing full helical.
Don't accept any weak spine condition. If your dead set on your arrow, length, and point weight then try building out your rest a bit. Fix the spine issue before putting on the helical "Band Aid."
Good luck.
Yep, 5" helical. Works fine. Just prep the shaft with a light sanding and Acetone. Glue with FletchTite.
My buddy uses a jo-jan and has no problem putting lots of twist in 5.5 feathers on skinny pultruded carbons. You will have no problem adjusting the jig for regular carbons.
I use nothing but helical on my carbons using feathers from 2- 5.5 inches long. no problems
