Since the auction does start (in earnest) tonight and I thought a reminder might be in order, I thought I might also sneak in this little Human Interest coincidence that came to light this very day, at least for a one-time run through:
My wife, Rose received a letter in the mail this very day from Houston, TX It was from a Ms. Nancy Houghtaling who stated , in a shakey but very legible hand that she is an83 year old lady who was raised in NC (and her folks are at rest here). She signs it Betty Ho - bless her heart. She said she had been meaning to write to tell my wife how much she enjoys her afghan Rose made for the 2007 (Not a typo) St. Jude Auction. She says she is cold all winter "even in TX" She goes on to say the afghan was given to her daughter by the manager of her (daughter's) office, to give to her.
Now, we don't know who the giver involved was but what a wonderful gift was given and what a wonderful gift her letter was to my wife today.
Small world, huh? The small folks at St. Jude still need all the help we can give them - perhaps you know some older person who gets cold in winter (and we truly do) and would like to bid up one of Rose's Afghans on this years St. Jude auction.
Bless your hearts one and all.
PS - Some (a lot) of us have additions, corections, etc. that we will be making to our listings on the bidding forums tonight soon after they are opened (I know I do on some - LOL). Point being, don't forget to recheck everything listed.
Good stuff bernie...I've got to be settin on ready to open up the bid forums...and turn em all on!
Amen Brothers!!! and Bernie, would ya give Rose a pre-Auction hug for me. :wavey:
:notworthy: :clapper:
Bernie, that story just reminded me of a picture I took last year of the afghan I won in last year's auction. I thought you and Rose might enjoy seeing it in its new home at my hunting cabin. It received plenty of use, and we love it!
It looks like there is one with matching colors that I will be keeping my eye on this year! :readit:

Thanks a lot to all of you - and I gave Rose the "Doug Hug" - LOL, she got a kick out of it.
Nice pic, whip!
I "let" Whip win that one last year. Glad I did, he's a LOT bigger in person! He may have to work at a couple this year if he's in the market.
Thanks Bernie for all you and Rose do for the kids.
See you there owlbait! ;) :bigsmyl:
Bernie,
Here's my online hand shake thanking you for all you and Rose do for this auction.
The afghan's are beautiful.
Todd
Whip, we are in trouble and its spelled Todd. I just saw his bids and he pulled the afghan gloves off! Yeah Todd!!!!
I saw that! It looks like the afghan secret is out!
I might not be done yet. That Rose sure is a fine craftswoman, yes she is.
I used to stay with my great Aunt when I was a boy. I remember lazy winter days of her sitting in her rocker, listening to CMT, (back when they actually played country music) and making afghans all day. Sadly, I don't have a single one. Rose's work brings back those memories so vivid, I can actually smell the aroma of my late great Aunt's tea. Thanks (once again) for that.
Todd
Bless all of your hearts for the kind words and the bids. Just on the Afghans that were on bidding thread # 1 the total was $260 I (we) love it - for the kids!
