one of our closest friends has two boys, the younger of which is my boys best bud (8 years) and her older (12) is one i have taken under my wing to mentor. They lost their dad in in an accident several years ago. Rick P made an awesome longbow for Thane, and he has been shooting lots and chasing pheasants to no avail every evening (they are an invasive here and no closed season).
last night we were talking to Samantha and telling her about stumpshooting and roving and she said that sounded like a fun thing she could do with Thane, so i am looking for an entry level RH recurve around #40...
anyhow, wondering if anyone has a light bow gathering dust somewhere they could part with...?
How about one waiting for an owner in "The Pass"? Moose Pass that is! I had a guy pass one on to me to pass on. I;m not at home now so don't know the #, hope it's low, should be at most womens draw length. Might need a string too.

Back in Moose Pass and all is well. I found that bow. It is a "Howatt Archery Bandito". Is 58" and 50# @ 28" but I'll bet unless she is tall and/or long armed would work for most women. Brown glass with a wood similar looking to, or actually is black walnut. Needs a string and strike plate.

Even 40 is going to be tough to start with, so I wouldn't even suggest 45 at this point. For stump shooting get here something between 30 and 35 pounds and let her learn without struggling.
Look for some cheap old bows, you can pick up such models on the cheap at the big auction. If I had something in the 30/35 range I would be glad to send it to you, but at this point I don't.
That Pearson Jet is solid glass and will be too heavy I believe, unless she works out with weights 8^).
I've got an old Ben Pearson that I think is 35#. I can confirm tonight. I don't remember the model on it, but it's in pretty good shape considering it sat in a closet for 20 years. I cleaned it and made a string for it.
It's a full size bow 58 or more inches long and shoots good.
My nephew's name is Thane. I thought he might be the only one.
