Title: I'm Heading to Bed now....but I killed Turkey #2....Pics

12 hr night shifts are great, plenty of time off. I had been up for 25 hrs, arriving home this morning at 5:30am....Quiet, peaceful and I was ready for some much needed sleep.

As the truck door slammed a loud gobble echoed out back. Then another...OK...should I quickly dress and head out or hit the sack? No brainer....I was dressed and double timing it out back in less than 10 minutes.

Halfway to where I heard the last gobble, I crow called..the tom answered and I knew the direction they were heading. Circling around, I set up against a stonewall fence with a small log to my back. Yelps, purrs and sweet talking went unanswered.

7:30 I decided to yelp and cackle aggressively. Wow..this tom answered less than 50 yds away. I caught movement and here he comes. 30 yds...strut and display....25 yds...looking...he eased towards the small gap in the fence. I hit anchor..at 15 yds he stepped through, started to display but the Snuffer slammed  into him hard.

He made it to the bottom of the ridge and was motionless. I was elated because I accomplished 2 goals. I took my first bird with my sons Kempf longbow and Bear Razorhead and this tom I killed with my old 50" 55# Browning Cobra. Enjoy the pics...I am going to sleep now...have to work tonite!

Ya have to admire a guy that stays up for 25 hours, works an over night 12 hour shift and still put off going to sleep to kill a fine looking Tom! Way to go Joe! Your the MAN! Now go get some sleep.   :thumbsup:    :notworthy:

Beautiful bird; amazing what we turkey hunters will do we we hear that gobble; hope rest will be good; thanks for sharing; by the way go to  www.huntbbs.com (http://www.huntbbs.com)  and register that bird; the site deals with bowhunting turkeys only; well worth the time looking...  :campfire:

Thanks everyone...I'm taking a snack now at work.

Luck plays a role in my style of hunting turkeys since I don't use any "blinds" and my one attempt at using a lone hen decoy was disasterous.

Timing the shot is key and if there are more than one bird around, getting busted is the norm.
The woods are thicker now and it offered more cover for me on both birds. Thanks again...
