Title: D97 String
Post by: Gator1 on May 21, 2009, 08:20:00 AM
I just got a 14 strand D97 string.

Forgot to get the loops padded, will I have any problems?

Thank you

Mitch, With 14 strand you shouldn't have a problem but I would double check with the bowyer.

I have been shooting 14 strings with now problems...I have FF approved bows.

I've heard some say you can go down to 12 strands without padding but I'm not sure.

Oliver, your 14 strand strings aren't padded in the loops?

Nope!  The original string from the bowyer was a 14 strand D-97 string and it wasn't padded.

I need to try making a padded string tonight when I get home...maybe a 10 strand padded with 4 strands in the loops.

If your bow is compatable for low stretch strings you don't really need to pad if you have a 12 to 14 strand D97.I like to pad my D97 strings to make the loop end a larger diameter to fill the string grooves better.I think it helps to make a quieter string by spreading out the load.A 12 strand D97 is strong enough for up to a 100# bow.I shoot 12 strands on bows from 50# to 83#.My favorite string material.

You shouldn't have any problems. I use 14 strands of 97 without padding the loops all the time. My Zipper "SXT" came with a 12 strand 97 on it.
