I am going to try carbons shafts, probably the CX-250s, and would like to know from everyone shooting carbons, what size feathers are you using and if you are setting them offset or helical? I plan on shooting two blades, not sure yet what grain, but I have some 125 grain
magnus.
My bow is 57# @ 28", if that matters.
Thanks in Advance!
I shoot three 5in shield or parabolic with a right helical. Right or left will not matter with your magnus two blade head. I use right helical because I shoot 160 grain single bevel Grizzly heads.
On your bow is it a center cut recurve? Those shafts might need alot of point weight.
I all my carbons come standard fletched with LW helical 5" sheild cut feathers.
I prefer LW 5" banana fletching on all my arrows. Oh ya, helical!
I shoot the CE Heritage 250s with 225gr tips and 5" RW helical. Love them. Just lightly sand the fletching area and clean with Acetone. I use FletchTite. Never had a fletching come off.
Full helical ....
what ever flies best from you & Your bow.
The bow is a black widow MAII. I believe it is cut 3/16" pass center. It looks like I will probably need a helical, being nobody has said that they are shooting offset with those BHs.
Thanks for the replies.
5" shields with helical
I fletch mine with both an off-set and full helical. Like somebody says, whatever flies best. One thing is, don't get caught up in the "it will slow your arrow down" junk. You shoot traditional for a reason and speed isn't one of them.
5" shields, right helical work with my bow with same shafts as you gonna be using.
I use 4" sheilds, helical,2 blade broadheads. Right wing or left wing whatever I have on hand when I'm making arrows.
I'm partial to helical myself. I prefer a right twist but it really doesn't matter, whatever shoots best for you out of your bow.
I shoot Goldtip Carbon arrow with 3 4" right helical feathers. They fly great and create the best of both worlds...drag that brings my arrows out of the bow shooting true, but not so much that they slow them down too bad.
